How weird that I've randomly ended up on this video! Yesterday I received a package addressed to me, with no return address/store/ect info on it anywhere. Inside was a black lacey parasol with fringed edges, very similar looking to this! (The handle and tip are very light colored wood.) Who sent it and why? I have no clue. Is it adorable? Yes. Do I wear styles that match with a parasol? No, but I kinda wish I did! What a strange series of events!
I know I'm late to the party but I really enjoy an alternative fashion from Harajuku Japan. It takes its inspiration from Victorian and Rocco fashion. It's called Lolita even though it has nothing to do with the novel. The fashion can be quite warm because it is a layered fashion and is quite modest. To help alleviate the heat the fashion brands often make parasols that are meant for use. Bran new they run $80-120 but they are frilly and beautiful. Second hand they run $30-80. They don't come up for resale very often but it might be worth looking into as an alternative. The brands you would want to look up would be angelic pretty or baby the stars shine bright. If you look up Lolita fashion use the full term 'lolita fashion' or the stuff that comes up will be the novel. The resale sites are lacemarket which is in english or closetchild and wunderwelt which are not though google can translate the page. They also ship to the US without needing a shopping service. I got one last year for $30 that is a bit on the plan side and neutral colored with a ruffle already attached. I have been considering adding some detail to the rest though.
youre so passionate about this, I think it is both admirable, and sweet. I can see your eyes glow when you talk about your work. But seriously though, I have never used a sewing machine but I would like to draw with cord on fabric. Do you think I could learn to do it ? have you ever seen bullfighting clothes decorations? part of the decoration are intricate floral patterns drawn with cord with a sewing machine. I know how to sew sequins and use gold gimp and bullion wire. I just think the soutache part of it is very overwhelming because of the intricate designs. Youre pretty good with that sewing machine. Did it take long you to learn?
Umbrella poles are a troublesome lot, but it looks like you still managed to bend them to your will. All while wearing some of the finest garments Ive seen around. In short, mad props
Even tho some of the spokes bent, I still came away with some ideas on how to diy my own parasol! Edit: now I'm going down a rabbit hole looking for decent parasols to rip apart loll

Gluing the handles makes the most sense to me, I would do E6000 or gorilla 2 part epoxy
