This reminds me of my cleaning method; first pass, quickly get rid of trash & donation things, 2nd pass to sort things into different rooms or categories, 3rd pass is fine tuning & organizing. Step 4, eat pizza.
For anyone curious, 5h of a top tier editor costs about 5x80USD=400USD. A "normal" channel gets about 4USD per 1000views (on average, if monetized), so the video needs to make at least 100.000views to break even for production costs.
Just to add to this though, past a certain point of success, youtube videos are mainly (as far as the business aspect goes) to maintain the content creators brand, and keep them as a relevant creator with regular uploads. They can actually make the majority of their income from long term partnerships, shorter sponsorships and even just streaming in general. As such, the goal of profiting via YT videos isn't actually that appealing. Hence a lot of the big CC's even let editors take almost all the YT money in exchange for being 100% hands off the channel and the editor doing essentially everything.
The amount of time and effort put in every video edited by Mudan make me appreciate the videos more and not take them for granted, keep up the great work
Things I think that might make me a faster editor after watching this ( maybe this could help you too) 1. stream deck/ shortcuts for most used effects and presets etc 2. A better sorted premiere workspace 3. Don't care too much, Quantity > Quality 4. Be Mudan

Seeing Mudan's workflow just goes to show how much of an inefficient editor I am, but to be fair I started editing just last year. And on top of that I don't have the best gear to do it (I edit on a 11 year old pc ;-;). I also don't edit that often (mostly for schoolwork)
From editing a two 2 hr video with 5 hr using all those stuffs just made me aware how complicated editing is....I always thought it could be finished with a few min tbh
If you aren't doing a speed run like Mudan. 1 minute of footage could take half hour of editing. Looking at it through the whole process. Most of the time is used up. By just looking at the same area over and over. Getting all the timings right. It gets more complicated. If you're trying to color balance multiple cameras. Remove the green screen in a whole video. Older your PC. The harder it gets to playback a green screen on the fly. If you prefer to do the GS removal in After Effects.

You should release an editing pack (sound effects, luts, visual effects (even though you use storyblocks, it would be nice ot have the default ones you use) and then some other things that you use for your editing) Cause I would so buy it! What I do is you want to feel out the vibe of the music and or audio, you then would pick the right clip or scene you feel goes with it best. After that you just need to find a way or something to make it flow. Pacing is also a big part of it. I hope this helped!
The impending doom thing is really funny it always happens to me when I edit our projects because I go all out with it and then all of a sudden it starts loading and loading and loading and I'm like fuuuudggeee 2 hours of progress wasted so I made a habit to save everytime I finish a part of the video and not just straight through

I took like 2 video courses in HIgh school. Editing was the most fun but man it took forever.... You don't notice the time though if you're having fun
