    I was born and raised in Toronto to Italian immigrant parents. I made the move to Italy 10 years ago and never looked back. I recently visited Toronto and noticed a real decline. When you travel the world, you realize how lame Toronto is. It definitely doesn't deserve the high cost of living. Most people would rather live elsewhere.

    I am a Toronto Downtown delivery driver. I can confirm what you are saying about the insane traffic every day because of all these stupid bike lanes reducing streets that had 2 lanes to one lane. What I don't get is why they have streets that run parallel to each other and both have bike lanes and they are just blocks apart sometimes. Also look at the disaster they did to Palmerston blvd when they put in bike lanes. From bloor to college (recent work), it now runs in 5 different directions (one ways in opposite directions). 5 blocks, 5 different directions! Only one of those blocks is a 2-way street. Before, the whole 5 blocks was a 2-way street. And the funny thing is that most cyclists don't even use it. They prefer streets like shaw (just a few blocks over) that runs further north and south with bike lanes (that was already there before this govn came into power).

      Next year, they will put bike lanes on 401 & QEW.

    • @sharinglungs3226
      @sharinglungs3226 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If they didn’t put in bike lanes you would complain about bumper to bumper traffic and not moving at all. The core is growing its population fast and you can’t expand the roads so you need a better way to move more people. At some point if it keeps growing at this pace they’ll need to start charging a congestion charge to encourage more drivers to seek alternative ways of travel.

    I know the project manager for the rentals at duferin and bridge land (old holiday inn) are a subsidiary of black rock and the rents there start at $3000/month. These aren’t affordable apartments. All of Yorkdale parking lot is going to be luxury apartments on stilts. They want everyone as a renter in the future. They are doing this wasteful spending and raising taxes so people are force to sell and investment corps are going to scoop housing up and monetize it.

  • @HuatulcoGuy
    @HuatulcoGuy 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    I recently retired. I could no longer afford to rent in Toronto. I left Canada to live abroad. I rent a small, but beautiful apartment which is a 10 minute walk to both a tropical beach and a modern supermarket. Everything including , rent, cable, internet, water, electricity and even health insurance, comes to approx. $620 CDN a month. Add another $620 a month for food, and you can live a pretty good life outside of Canada for $1,250 per month.
    I am not going to name the place where I live because there are other countries out there that are just as reasonably priced, or even more so. Just do your own research to find out where.
    Canada is only for the wealthy now! Time to look elsewhere!

    It is not good for buyers. You bro bullshiting as well. Prices for housing doesn’t make sense in Canada. Thanks to speculators who call themselves”investors” all properties prices are ballooned and at least 30% above the real prices. Noone should be able to speculate on essential need for every Canadian family. If anyone who owned more than two properties must be taxed more. Speculators, private or corporate must be pushed to sell units in which they didn’t live. It is an emergency situation now. High housing prices benefit few and suck money from the real economy

When you live in the city you learn what streets you should avoid. Believe it or not but we do need bike lanes otherwise it is dangerous for these Tour De France cyclists and uber drivers to share the road. On the other hand the roads are overwhelmed…. I lost over $70k when everything started to tank. Not because I was in an exchange that went belly up. I was just stupid to hold and because that's what everyone said. I'm still responsible. It just taught me to be a better investor now that I understand more of what could go wrong. It took me over two years of being in the market, I'm really grateful I found one source to recover my money, at least $10k profits weekly. Thanks Natalie Strayer

      The very first time we tried, we invested $2000 and after a week, we received $9500. That really helped us a lot to pay up our bills.

    Doug Ford is insisting on single family homes that cost far more in terms of infrastructure and make everyone car dependant. As someone with a pure remote job who got rid of my car i want more multiple dwelling unit centered walkable communities. Not more townhomes stretched further and further out. Thank the lord for pure remote work, I have been car free since March 2022 and havent missed city driving 1 day.

    There shouldnt be boulevards in a HOSPITAL corridor. Space is needed for traffic to move. Build a skystreet above the street if they have to.

    What do you suggest we do ? We are stuck with this mayor for another 3 years and this PM for another 18 mths at least without a guarantee either one of them will be voted out by then. I'm struggling to see how we, the taxpayers, are going to get some relief ( on all points you are raising) but keep coming back to the same conclusion: -> Only with electtions that are still in the far-flung future. Until then these fiancially illiterate fools will bury us all deeper in a financial hole. Hey, at least we have "equity" to cherish.

    Here's a story you won't believe, I called the city with regards to my water bill as it has skyrocketed, while on the phone I also asked, just how much so I pay for this small garbage receptacle, which we use to get a $10.00 rebate for if we managed to use the small one, are you ready, are you sitting down, nearly $300 per year. From a $10.00 rebate to nearly $300 a year.
