- ABBA are a Swedish pop group formed in Stockholm in 1972 by Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. The group's name is an acronym of the first letters of their first names arranged in a chiastic pattern. Widely considered one of the greatest musical groups of all time, they became one of the most commercially successful acts in the history of popular music, topping the charts worldwide from 1974 to 1983, and have achieved 48 hit singles.
In 1974, ABBA were Sweden's first winner of the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Waterloo", which in 2005 was chosen as the best song in the competition's history as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the contest. During the band's main active years, it consisted of two married couples: Fältskog and Ulvaeus, and Lyngstad and Andersson. With the increase of their popularity, their personal lives suffered, which eventually resulted in the collapse of both marriages. The relationship changes were reflected in the group's music, with latter compositions featuring darker and more introspective lyrics. After ABBA separated in December 1982, Andersson and Ulvaeus continued their success writing music for multiple audiences including stage, musicals and movies, while Fältskog and Lyngstad pursued solo careers.
Ten years after the group broke up, a compilation, ABBA Gold, was released, becoming a worldwide best-seller. In 1999, ABBA's music was adapted into Mamma Mia!, a successful musical that toured worldwide. A film of the same name, released in 2008, became the highest-grossing film in the United Kingdom that year. A sequel, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, was released in 2018.
In 2016, the group reunited and started working on a digital avatar concert tour. Newly recorded songs were announced in 2018. Voyage, their first new album in 40 years, was released on November 5, 2021.A concert residency featuring ABBA as virtual avatars - dubbed 'ABBAtars' - will take place in London from May to October 2022. - เพลง

I know Agnetha got all the press & the praise but my oh my Anni-Frid looks fantastic here with all the moves!!

I love Frida's crazy personality; she's a free spirit and always looks like she's having so much fun. You're right that she doesn't get quite as much appreciation as Agnetha and I really don't get why, other than Agnetha being the blonde as someone mentioned. Regardless I love all of them! ❤❤

I love them both, but I love Frida more because she was so energetic during their younger years. She could sing and dance at the same time very well, soooo talented lady 😊. She could still sing during their meeting after 40 years and Agnetha too, but she was nervous. That warm and angelic voice of Frida was still there after 40 years. I do love ABBA ❤
I always thought the girls were incredibly reserved with each other but now I think it was just respect. They were so careful to present themselves as equals and not rivals.
They were very good friends.
Only decadent US- Citizens look everywhere for rivalry or competition and more. Have you lost the word team or team player? If there is rivalry in any team, the team breaks up immediatly of coarse, or else it consists only of slaves of a "manager" or worse.

Some time ago I've seen a video of the rehearsal for this tv show. Agnetha was indeed counting while practicing her dance routine. Very cute. :-)

Yes she was and lived dancing! She was known to dance all night at her favorite Swedish discotech. Benny hated dancing so she had to dance with others and wore them all out and she would still be goi g strong lol.
I love this song. I loved this song back in the mid 70’s. Why was this not a monster hit? Just bursting with rock energy. The ladies are havin a great ole time too.
It sounds classic now but it was very dated when it was first released. It's kind of glammy (3 years too late) and not really distinguished enough to stand out from similar releases. It was a minor hit in Australia when everything ABBA released was monster.

It's interesting to combine this with the little bit of film footage that was released not 'so long' ago. It showed them getting ready just before performing this song. Agnetha was a little anxious about how many shuffle steps to the left and right were in the dance routine. Frida was calmer and more confident that it was a sequence of two hops each way. I think they'd done this routine on their 1975 tour of the Swedish folk-parks and were trying to recall how it went six months later on this show. In the end, they sort of agree that 'it'll be okay once the music starts' and it'll come back to them naturally. As can be seen, it did. You can see at the very end, Frida says something to Agnetha probably like 'Yep, that's how it went'. It is funny to see their little mannerisms.
Not everyone likes dancing or is good st it. I hate it, can't do and usually avoid watching it. Good thing is ABBA's dance moves are somewhat understated, kind of cute and a little adhoc, so not as obnoxious as most. The modern stuff is super cringey.
yes so true about the 'rehearsal' footage, the interaction and body language was a little tense in what I saw. just shows you how professional they were about getting it right when it mattered. And in hot velour jumpsuits too, which are just gorgeous. I recon Frida says 'well done little sister you almost got it right' 😉

They've had so many great songs its sad that this one is not ranked up there with their best. Its the go to if you need a 'pick me up' and a tune that stays with you for a while.
As songwriters they've gotta be up there with the best of them and the girls, what more can you say about them, lovely, talented, genuine and a perfect 'face' for the band.

Oh my goodness - the cheese factor is off the chart and it utterly pales in comparison to the choreography and the moves of today.
And yet it is pure, unadulterated genius and absolutely iconic. It captures something so magical, beautiful and brilliant. This is part of the reason I have loved this band since I was about 3 or 4 years old. Literally.

I love Sweden my favourite country on the planet well I am half 😁. and ABBA do Justice.. brilliant group excellent voices beautiful melodies great lyrics.. Modest, humble what's not to like... can not wait to visit Stockholm in the summer and my ticket is booked to visit the Abba museum..
ABBA put out several songs which tried to put Rock & Roll in the title like Rock Me, Rock & Roll Band or put a little guitar distortion to sound more grungy such as Watch Out, Hey Hey Helen and Does Your Mother Know, but So Long is perhaps their most genuinely rocking song without any pretense of a rock and roll song. It just worked.
