Not only are the Forza Horizon games stunning looking, they are exciting a fun to play all the way through. Appealing to all kinds of gamers rather than just the die hard racing fans.
Not a fanboy post, just telling my story. As huge GT fan back in the PS2/PS3 days, Forza is why I'm an Xbox gamer today. When Forza became too good to ignore I jumped the fence. And the fact that there are 2 versions of the series just makes me happy. So when I see comments like "It's just a car game", I have to disagree. For me it was system seller.
I always respected the Gran tourismo franchise and polyphony digital, they are so passionate and good at what they do, but Forza Motorsport is the king of racing sim for me. I went from a ps4 to a XSX because I missed the FM franchise too much 😅.
The Forza Horizon 1 players already look at it with a lot of nostalgia, the Horizon franchise is nearly 10 years old (1 more year) now I played every single one of the Horizon and trust me, until I played Horizon 5, no Horizon came even close to Horizon 1 imo, especially in terms of ambiance, Horizon 5 is the best Horizon to date
I grew up as a PlayStation kid, and loved the GT series. I sunk many hours into GT4. That all changed though once I got a 360 and got Forza 3 and 4. While GT might be the more hardcore sim series now (and there were plenty of things that GT4 had that made it unique and appealing), I find the Forza series to be more enjoyable as a casual player. The Horizon series is the perfect bridge between open world arcade and realistic enough handling. Obviously it's an arcade racer, but it just shows how terrible the driving mechanics are in NFS games. Also, every time I hear that opening song for the original Horizon, I still get goosebumps like it's the first time playing the game when it came out
@Melvin Frazier Ngl, seeing the preview for GT7 makes me want to get a PS5 just for that. Looks like they're bringing back some things that made me like GT4
GT has subpar simulation features compared to Forza motorsport. GT is sponsored by more serious racing gamers, but that does not mean it is the more hardcore game. I used to be a huge fan of GT but after GT4 they lost me.
@@skatellites6612 I haven't played a GT since 4, and 4 definitely had more sim features than the equivalent FM game. I guess they dumbed it down in more recent iterations which is a shame

@Melvin Frazier Totally agree. FM online is just who can survive the first corner the best. I think it's due to Forza having a much wider age range so you have little kids to adults, vs GT I see as more of a young adult/adult title. I could not do Project Cars. Tried it and the handling just felt weird. I've had Assetto since it was a free beta on PC and thoroughly enjoy it, although without a proper wheel setup I can't do much beyond some casual racing against AI). I had a Logitech setup that was the official GT4 wheel (still have it at my parents' house). That thing was awesome for back in the day (900° rotation with pretty aggressive force feedback), and plug and play with the PS2. You're spot on with Horizon 4. I played the 1st three titles for hours on end with friends. 4 came around and we played for a month before getting bored. I ended up going back to it every now and then, but it never had the same spark that the first three Horizons had that made me want to play it consistently
Insomniac have released three incredible games in a couple of years including Ratchet which has the best graphics to date. Iterating on a driving game for years doesn't put them on that level, and believe me i do really enjoy the Horizon games.

Halo? Hahaha. Halo hasn't proven Xbox power since the early 360 days. Most halo fans are hoping that Halo Infinite isn't a disappointment like that that last 2 games, but so far it not doing good since it won't be having franchise staples like co-op and forge at launch. We also ain't getting Craig the brute style meme from Forza either.
@@tyrcipher8811 the multiplayer flights were kinda fun and Infinite is looking to the best fps game coming in December. Vanguard is the same mediocre game last the last 2 titles and BF2042 is a broken mess. Hopefully the campaign was deliever a fun story and make use of its semi-open world.

Especially since we're a month from release, and have yet to actually see update campaign footage beside a few minutes. The game also leave much to be desired from the graphical stand point which isn't great considering this is the Series X second major first party exclusive behind FH5 since launch... And the Series X is supposed the be the "world's strongest console". My thing is Halo has just more or less fallen off of being a Xbox showcase while Forza and Gears have picked up the slack Forza have more or less delivered on every front since the original release of motorsports. From graphical quality - Push 4k, 6OFP, 4x MSSA on consoles, to gameplay... etc. Forza also manages to release their games on time without delays FM5 was a true showcase for Xbox One’s graphics prowess. Destroying all the negative claims that the Xbox One couldn't do 1080P at launch. I don't even want to mention MCC While Halo 5 could barely hit it 1080P target running at 810P most of the time FM7 came out an pushed it even further with it native native 4K and a solid 60 frames per second with the weather effects... etc. for the Xbox One X Halo 6 was supposed to the primer title of the Series X. Just like the first Halo release along side the original Xbox, but it failed to launched on time, and was delayed a year... And still is launching without all the feature we expect from a Halo games Gear 5 and FH4 had to pick up the slack last year cause even the Halo 5 Series X patch left much to be desired. Through out the entire Xbox One Generation Forza - Especially Horizon was the games that made people want a Xbox
Turn10 and playground games are consistently great devs..I have high hopes for fable.. Turn10 is upgrading the game engine And playground is building Fable..

To me the Forza franchise will always be on top of Gran Turismo. Although GT is much more of a simulator, Forza is incredible in terms of breaking boundaries and raising the bar every title. On top of that releasing seperate open world and simulator forza titles is an incredible feat.
This video is a masterpiece in itself. The level of research and depth of knowledge is unparalleled. It felt like listening to an engaging historian of video games - which is the respect the genre is due. Brilliant work by the IGN team behind the video. Absolutely first class.
2 is still my personal favorite ! That's something so "right" when you drive an Italian supercar on an Italian highway ! Other locations just missing that "right~ness".
All you have to do to realise how amazing Forza Horizon is, is play the intro where you race different cars through different places, with the finale being a race to the festival. It's cinematic, it's beautiful, it's fun, it's Forza Horizon.
No bitterness here as I grew up on GT, but what Turn 10 / MS have achieved with Forza is just ridiculous. 10+ games, in two distinct sub-series, all to a crazy high standard of quality, in the space of 15 or so years is crazy.
Bring on MEHICO. I'm just finishing up some last minute things on FH4. Can't wait to see the visual/audio jump in 5. So excited to play this on my SX, with my LG OLED 4K DISPLAY! HOO AHHHH

Luke is truly THE car guy at IGN. I had no idea the Kinect would allow you to move the camera angle inside the car by tracking the movement of your head. Now that’s really cool unlike the stupid fake steering stuff they were advertising. Only a true fan like Luke can point out forgotten details like that
I want a remaster or even just a basic rerelease or backwards compatibility of Forza Motorsport 4 for Xbox One or Series consoles. Kinda hard to find a X360 that comes with FM4 with all it's DLC installed (Haven't been able to DL the DLC's for years now)

Watching this video gave me a whole new respect for Playground and Turn 10. Every game they release is virtually perfect. Every. Single. One. And then? They raise the bar even f*cking higher with the next one.
I like how when developing cross gen with next gen as lead platforms, the Series S doesn't suffer nearly as much as it does when cross gen games are just up ports running One S code. I own a Series X, but I can see quality of this game matches what Microsoft promoted for the console "next-gen quality at lower resolution" get this game on Series S looks much better than it does on even the One X

Its about time the Series X had a decent game that showed there's some horses under the bonnet! Sad that its taken a year, but I have it pre installed and waiting for the countdown! Also a bit rough that to stop pop in you gotta run it at 30fps - that's disappointing, but given how cool it looks I'll take it. I could just play on my 3090 PC and no doubt hit 120hz, but I cant help prefer playing consoles and choose PS5 or Series X over PC almost every single day. Guess I'm a lucky guy to have all the choices. Good devs make good games regardless of platform and these are good devs.

I second this! I am running a 5900x and 3080 Ti and I’m pretty sure I’ll be downsizing to a series X. I got the premium edition to start playing yesterday and the games incredible. It’s worth noting that even with all that power with series X at about 1/3 of that, I’m getting 77-83 fps in races. The series X for outputting 30 fps matching Extreme settings in quality mode is really impressive. Not only that but those extra 50 fps at 4k costs over an extra 2k on my pc which is just insane. So assuming you’re running a 5000 chip with your 3090 I would expect you’ll be running very close to the same FPS I am. Translate that into I completely agree with your comment. They get so much power out of the console with these optimized games and it’s cake to power the console on and jump in, it’s an easy choice. Plus you’re not missing much despite the FPS difference. It’s great to be able to say console players are seeing the same image quality for a fraction of the cost.
Great video. FM4 was where the Motorsport series peaked imo. Horizon was my dream game as a youngster...always wanted the Forza graphics, sound and physics/handling model in an open world setting...was so hyped when it was announced.
An absolute masterpiece of fun gameplay, semi-realism mixed with just the perfect amount of arcade influence.. I am in love with Forza horizon I play everyday and if your on the fence about trying another "racing" game, just give it a try especially if you have gamepass already. It's a win win! My gf who doesn't even care about cars plays FH4 now so we sometimes play together and this game SHINES when you play with friends!!! Great job playground games!!!
IGN does a video about Forza Horizen 5 maintaining the legacy of grahicly intense racers exemplifying what a gaming console can do visually and then releases said video at a 1080P maximum resolution. Great work guys.
Always classed mario kart on the Super Nintendo the best racing game untill I discovered forza horizon 4 a few months a go ( never been a fan of sim racing) and its now my favourite racing game of all time... Now I've got an entire forza game to complete plus dlc while u guys play 5 😂
Forza Horizon is hands down the best arcade racer, but Gran Turismo is still the better simulation game and the online experience on GT Sport is the gold standard on console.

Just realized what needs to be in the next motorsport game..for it to be amazing.. A full track builder... And a full car builder...talking into account power , torque,power to weight ratio, aerodynamics..as much as they can put in..give the gamers the tools to build their own car... Users created content is the future.
FH4 is the best racing game in the past 20 years and its not close. Forza in general has made GT look amateur in comparison, making higher quality games in faster amounts of time. If they can translate that to Fable they could be up there with Naughty Dog as the best developer in the world.
It was impossible for me to like racing games/simulators cuz I was an avid avgeek. Then one day, I pushed aside my usual fill of GTA IV in my Xbox 360 when I saw this racing game called "Forza Horizon". It's 2021 and I still go around in a Jaguar D-Type alongside Colorado and Nice (FH2) for nostalgia's sake, it was marvelous.
Forza 2 & 3 bring back such memories!!! I know theres licensing issues but I wish MS could make the whole Forza franchise backwards compatible if you at least have the disc. Its a staple franchise for them and a shame most of the games cant be played now.

That was a very enjoyable video. It was nice to see an overview of the development process leading up to what has been the best racing experience I've ever had. Forza Horizons 5 is just a joy to play. I'm very much a casual racing fan so this level of accessibility is very welcome to me and I can just jump in any car and go tear-assing around the open world in whatever direction I want to. It reminds me of the movie Gumball Rally (dating myself I know lol) where the Italian driver jumps in his car and proceeds to rip off the rear view mirror saying something along the lines of "what is behind me I do not care about" Anyway great video about a great series. I've been a hardcore Forza fan since 2011, I've played Forza Motorsport 4, Forza Horizon 1, Forza Horizon 2, Forza Motorsport 6, Forza Horizon 3, Forza Motorsport 7, and Forza Horizon 5. It's the sole reason why i am with Xbox and not Playstation lol.
Back in 2013 when I was addicted to Horizon 1, players used to say It was a step in the wrong way for Forza and a shitty game compared with Motorsport 4 LOL
I've bought the Xbox Series X because of the Forza series. I cancelled my order for a PS5 when called for collection. Gran Turismo was great 10 years ago, even if not that different from 15 years ago. Now it's a bit tired and lives in the past. Indeed it doesn't innovate enough and sits on its laurels. GT stayed too clinical, for lack of a better word. Poliphony Digital really need to up their game beyond the mere visual quality to drag me back to GT. Having said that, GT was my favourite racing game for years and its influence is undeniable. It will always hold a special place in my heart for the countless hours of fun.
They put a lot of work into a balance between, quality , performance, optimization, the openness of the game allows to prioritize the on screen rendering.

I was a big Gran Turismo fan back in the ps2 days. Put probably thousands of hours into it. Haven't really touched a racing game since then until I picked up Forza horizon 5. Needless to say I'm blown away and haven't put it down for days. Im sad I never gave Forza a chance til now.

All you have to do to realise how amazing Forza Horizon is, is play the intro where you race different cars through different places, with the finale being a race to the festival. It's cinematic, it's beautiful, it's fun, it's Forza Horizon.

No bitterness here as I grew up on GT, but what Turn 10 / MS have achieved with Forza is just ridiculous. 10+ games, in two distinct sub-series, all to a crazy high standard of quality, in the space of 15 or so years is crazy.

Luke is truly THE car guy at IGN. I had no idea the Kinect would allow you to move the camera angle inside the car by tracking the movement of your head. Now that’s really cool unlike the stupid fake steering stuff they were advertising. Only a true fan like Luke can point out forgotten details like that

I want a remaster or even just a basic rerelease or backwards compatibility of Forza Motorsport 4 for Xbox One or Series consoles. Kinda hard to find a X360 that comes with FM4 with all it's DLC installed (Haven't been able to DL the DLC's for years now)

Watching this video gave me a whole new respect for Playground and Turn 10. Every game they release is virtually perfect. Every. Single. One. And then? They raise the bar even f*cking higher with the next one.
I like how when developing cross gen with next gen as lead platforms, the Series S doesn't suffer nearly as much as it does when cross gen games are just up ports running One S code. I own a Series X, but I can see quality of this game matches what Microsoft promoted for the console "next-gen quality at lower resolution" get this game on Series S looks much better than it does on even the One X

Its about time the Series X had a decent game that showed there's some horses under the bonnet! Sad that its taken a year, but I have it pre installed and waiting for the countdown!
Also a bit rough that to stop pop in you gotta run it at 30fps - that's disappointing, but given how cool it looks I'll take it. I could just play on my 3090 PC and no doubt hit 120hz, but I cant help prefer playing consoles and choose PS5 or Series X over PC almost every single day. Guess I'm a lucky guy to have all the choices.

I second this! I am running a 5900x and 3080 Ti and I’m pretty sure I’ll be downsizing to a series X. I got the premium edition to start playing yesterday and the games incredible. It’s worth noting that even with all that power with series X at about 1/3 of that, I’m getting 77-83 fps in races. The series X for outputting 30 fps matching Extreme settings in quality mode is really impressive. Not only that but those extra 50 fps at 4k costs over an extra 2k on my pc which is just insane.
So assuming you’re running a 5000 chip with your 3090 I would expect you’ll be running very close to the same FPS I am. Translate that into I completely agree with your comment. They get so much power out of the console with these optimized games and it’s cake to power the console on and jump in, it’s an easy choice. Plus you’re not missing much despite the FPS difference. It’s great to be able to say console players are seeing the same image quality for a fraction of the cost.
Great video. FM4 was where the Motorsport series peaked imo. Horizon was my dream game as a youngster...always wanted the Forza graphics, sound and physics/handling model in an open world setting...was so hyped when it was announced.

An absolute masterpiece of fun gameplay, semi-realism mixed with just the perfect amount of arcade influence.. I am in love with Forza horizon I play everyday and if your on the fence about trying another "racing" game, just give it a try especially if you have gamepass already. It's a win win! My gf who doesn't even care about cars plays FH4 now so we sometimes play together and this game SHINES when you play with friends!!! Great job playground games!!!

Always classed mario kart on the Super Nintendo the best racing game untill I discovered forza horizon 4 a few months a go ( never been a fan of sim racing) and its now my favourite racing game of all time... Now I've got an entire forza game to complete plus dlc while u guys play 5 😂

As someone who's had all 5 Playstations, I've always been envious of Forza Motorsport/Horizon. A truly great series!

FH5 is my first Forza game, picked up a series X this year. Man I have been missing out, one of the best games I've ever played.
Forza Horizon is hands down the best arcade racer, but Gran Turismo is still the better simulation game and the online experience on GT Sport is the gold standard on console.
With this and GT7 coming out next year it's good to see Racing Fans have options and variety

FH4 is the best racing game in the past 20 years and its not close. Forza in general has made GT look amateur in comparison, making higher quality games in faster amounts of time. If they can translate that to Fable they could be up there with Naughty Dog as the best developer in the world.

Forza Motorsport 4 is where I got hooked. I never cared for racing games or appreciated cars much until I played that game.
Forza Horizon franchise is the best open world racing game without a doubt
It was impossible for me to like racing games/simulators cuz I was an avid avgeek. Then one day, I pushed aside my usual fill of GTA IV in my Xbox 360 when I saw this racing game called "Forza Horizon". It's 2021 and I still go around in a Jaguar D-Type alongside Colorado and Nice (FH2) for nostalgia's sake, it was marvelous.

Forza 2 & 3 bring back such memories!!! I know theres licensing issues but I wish MS could make the whole Forza franchise backwards compatible if you at least have the disc. Its a staple franchise for them and a shame most of the games cant be played now.

That was a very enjoyable video. It was nice to see an overview of the development process leading up to what has been the best racing experience I've ever had. Forza Horizons 5 is just a joy to play. I'm very much a casual racing fan so this level of accessibility is very welcome to me and I can just jump in any car and go tear-assing around the open world in whatever direction I want to. It reminds me of the movie Gumball Rally (dating myself I know lol) where the Italian driver jumps in his car and proceeds to rip off the rear view mirror saying something along the lines of "what is behind me I do not care about" Anyway great video about a great series. I've been a hardcore Forza fan since 2011, I've played Forza Motorsport 4, Forza Horizon 1, Forza Horizon 2, Forza Motorsport 6, Forza Horizon 3, Forza Motorsport 7, and Forza Horizon 5. It's the sole reason why i am with Xbox and not Playstation lol.
Back in 2013 when I was addicted to Horizon 1, players used to say It was a step in the wrong way for Forza and a shitty game compared with Motorsport 4 LOL

I've bought the Xbox Series X because of the Forza series. I cancelled my order for a PS5 when called for collection. Gran Turismo was great 10 years ago, even if not that different from 15 years ago. Now it's a bit tired and lives in the past. Indeed it doesn't innovate enough and sits on its laurels. GT stayed too clinical, for lack of a better word. Poliphony Digital really need to up their game beyond the mere visual quality to drag me back to GT. Having said that, GT was my favourite racing game for years and its influence is undeniable. It will always hold a special place in my heart for the countless hours of fun.
They put a lot of work into a balance between, quality , performance, optimization, the openness of the game allows to prioritize the on screen rendering.
Thank you for making us feel more attached to a franchise that truely deserves it..

I was a big Gran Turismo fan back in the ps2 days. Put probably thousands of hours into it. Haven't really touched a racing game since then until I picked up Forza horizon 5. Needless to say I'm blown away and haven't put it down for days. Im sad I never gave Forza a chance til now.
