Yesterday he played this masterpiece (never got the attention it deserves..) live and man what a great performance!! He totally deserves his retirement after giving awesome memories for decades ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
How many times a day do you hear Lady Gaga, Ed Sheeran and countless other teeny boppers on the radio? A challenge to radio 1. Play this song 10 or 15 times a day on your radio station and the big man will outsell the lot of them. This is a fact.
A song that could have fitted in easily on the Clutching at straws album.....the finest hour. Fantastic song....Fish is a musical genius creating images and scenes with his lyrics and music..
Holy Fish, he did it again, hit the jackpot. Fantastic, as always. What a song again. 100k views in 3 years. Such a pity but we consider ourselves rich to be part of the followers of this obscure (?) Scottish poet. Bob Dylan, eat your heart out.
Very few songs can do what this one does. Very few. Fish is at the top of his game. Lyrics, melodies, progressions, tension...it's all here; there's nothing else to ask of music.
Extremely few artists' (not counting the prematurely dead) last albums are arguably their best. Take dozens of greats and you cannot say that about them. With Fish it may well be true! (his last-but-one also being fantastic)!
Fish it's been a hell of a journey. From the first US Tour for Script and every time you made it across the pond, I was there. I hope like hell the promoters can offer enough to bring you back to Chicago one more time. Slainte big guy and thanks for all the great music over the years.
So very hard on yourself. You stayed whole and you didn't melt. You stayed true to yourself and with that comes authenticity. And in that your songs and revelvance gained longevity.
I've been sitting here losing myself in this amazing lp (Vinyl came in the post this week) just one amazing composition after another, and then this track comes on and blows my mind. What a song! Are these Fish's best lyrics ever? Quite possibly. I usually point people towards "Warm wet circles" but this goes to another level.
i didnt think much of 13 th star. ok in places, loved Zoe. Feast was superb and this new ep is Fish back to his best lyric wise but for me fish will always be remembered for the masterpiece that is Vigil in a wilderness of mirrors.
bloody love you fish...first album was clutching at straws wasnt that fussed when i bought it back in the day on my 17th birthday with my auntie moyns woolworths voucher 1987 but as time went on it grew on me and the rest is history.. I have a very wide music taste but if im ever sat feeling like I NEED something to fill my head, my soul play with my emotions paint a picture in my mind...its always you big guy....ALWAYS..
Plymouth Poly 1983 was the start of the affair with Marillion/Fish..This is great stuff. Really looking forward to Weltschmerz, sad that this is the final album..what a journey..Fish gigs have always been some of the best times in my life..thanks big fella, your music will live on...Slainte
Nice work FISH. I hate to say it but you can really tell this production and effort being put forward is due to this being the last album. Not that it was mailed in before but if any of us were in the process of making our last album we would pour our heart and everything we had into the project. All I can say is thanks FISH for the years of awesome music and letting us be a part of your life. See ya on the road
What a SONG, this has got to be one of best song I've ever heard, it has everything you could ever want from a song, please play it at Frome Somerset.. Hope your Mum's alright and your all keeping well. Cheers Dean
Derek, I've loved all your songs! You tell so many stories. And never sold out ! Saw you at the mean fiddler in London in 99 sick as hell, but you performed anyway!!!! Cheers to you mate!!!! ************
As always the master of words.. Its been an amazing journey. Derek. Seen you on every album tour .( solo) probably.my favorite was the cavern when you played misplaced in full as a test before u took it on tour for the anniversary.. Was my girlfriends birthday night out. What a present you gave her ....you my remember her from runcorn. Parr hall...ha ha..( terry).
It's RUNCORN BRINDLEY THEATRE..."..parr hall was Warrington ..another tour .....RUNCORN WAS NOVEMBER 11 2008 ......she stopped the gig to invade the stage ..and made me take the photos of you both to prove it ...
Two days ago I watched these guys live on stage in Germany, playing this brilliant song. Funny notice: almost exactly 15 years ago I crossed Waverley Station on the sidewalk, but didn't use the steps down to the tracks.
Who else writes lyrics like that ..NO OTHER COMES CLOSE... The 72 steps had laid there 145 years ,,and are now only half the width they once were ...because ..now we have the waverley escalators ...( also think original steps layout may of been changed...I've not been there since work was done around ten years ago ..so I could be wrong )
I love the way Fish sings now. He said he'd wished he sang like this years ago as he used to force it and do damage, as we all know. Please tell me I'm not the only female who's in love with this man?💕
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. Funnily enough, I closed my eyes picking 5 CDs to play at once and one of them was 'Yang' by Fish. When I played all 5 on random play the track 'Lavender' came on. It was a slightly different version than the one on 'Misplaced Childhood' but I loved hearing it again. The man's a genius!💕
Robin Boult and John Mitchell (Arena, Lonely Robot & It Bites) played the guitar parts on the EP and the forthcoming album. Think it was Robin on that solo.
Yesterday he played this masterpiece (never got the attention it deserves..) live and man what a great performance!! He totally deserves his retirement after giving awesome memories for decades ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
He's a permanent and important part of my life since 35 years. Thank you Fish...
Lucky you, and me ;)
The Scottish poet!! One of the best of the best

I had the pleasure of meeting Fish twice on the Caledonian Sleeper. A perfect gentleman.

If this is the final album then what a way to bow out. !!

This is wonderful. Fish visits well-trodden ground for his subject matter but delivers a stellar song, musically exhilarating and lyrically dazzling.
A poetic genius!! Paints such an amazing story with his lyrics😎
So very hard on yourself. You stayed whole and you didn't melt. You stayed true to yourself and with that comes authenticity. And in that your songs and revelvance gained longevity.
This song is one of the most beautuful songs written ....

REALLY AMAZING TEXT OF A GREAT POEM :) FROM A GREAT POET
I love both sides. Marillion and Fish are relevant over 35 Years. In this f...biz, is not easy. Respect !
My vains simply feel the blood streaming filled with happiness , this is so fucking beautiful !!!!
Wonderful. His final two albums are his finest. A remarkable achievement.

I was 15 and grow up with Fishs voice and music. Now 36 years later I recognized that everything will get to an end. Thanks for joining me Fish

Great album ... listen to it & other Fish albums , all the time
This is a pleasant surprise! Excellent arrangement vocally and instrumentally, Fish never ceases to amaze!
The man is a genius.
@@piotrekes, Fish is one of us, just a "Little Man".

Ya era hora de que mostrara algo sinfónico. ✌️
great stuff fish , glad to have you back :)
This is awesome!!!
Texte fouillé comme d'hab, jolie fin ! Waiting for this new cd.
loved evry minit of it cant wait for the album to come out
Bittersweet (or Bittersuite) as the end approaches, but another great track joins the catalogue of brilliant music.
My thoughts exactly.
Excelente canción Dereck!!!
Amazing voice
Excellent. I really like this. Looking forward to the album...but also not looking forward to it because it could be his last. 😢
Fish we love him just yeah thanks
first class prog song
Love a good story.
Genius .... only one fish only one marrilion no fish no marrilion end of
Stunning. The green belt has buckled the greatest lyricist ever
Fish is TOP.
Merci Fish 🐠🐟
Awesome!
very autobiographical - bears his soul....beautiful
Paul Capener Didn’t understand your comment at first. On third listen...hell yeah, I get where you are coming from. Very autobiographical.
Nothing like the old Fish back in 80's
Not many singers are. Time and age has a tendency of catching up.
Could say the same for footballers 40 yrs later are they still hitting the mark
Excellent!!!!
Incredible
Derek go on, please! Thank you!

Un genio Fish de MARILLION. JODER.
I love the way Fish sings now. He said he'd wished he sang like this years ago as he used to force it and do damage, as we all know. Please tell me I'm not the only female who's in love with this man?💕
Nope I am also. His live Gentleman's Excuse Me/Lavender sings me to sleep every night. 💛💛
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. Funnily enough, I closed my eyes picking 5 CDs to play at once and one of them was 'Yang' by Fish. Please tell me that I’m not the only man who is in love with this man? (And I’m not even gay)
The way he sings now u can understand the lyrics much better, wonder if he got a voice coach
Reminds me slightly of „Another murder of the day“ (Fish + Tony Banks)
Who the hell is this guitarist? A great song demands a great solo, and he delivered.
Robin Boult
Robin Boult and John Mitchell (Arena, Lonely Robot & It Bites) played the guitar parts on the EP and the forthcoming album. Think it was Robin on that solo.
I think, you are the Mentor now. Lood luck!
Derek, your soul is in this song.
❤
Grendel looks Forward!!!
Omg
Strong track.
Rabbie Burns you have a contender
The brass was great, but where is Mr. Usher now?
Sou do Brasil 🇧🇷 a uma turn com o marilion
Sublime. Suena mejor a todo lo que hizo Marillion sin él.
