  • This is a simple format to teach your team the technical and tactical aspects of building out of the back and team shape and movement.
    Training Team Shape in the 3-3-1 also has some great ideas on how to use small-sided games to train team shape.

    Have been doing this with my side throughout the winter, a big help especially during goal kicks

    Great activity, used it at last practice adopted to my 3-4-1. Girls really enjoyed this particularly once the pace picked up with defenders and doing balls alternating to each side from the keeper. Needed that to engage both sides and get many touches. Thanks and look forward to others from world class coaching

    Excellent video, this exercise is a great way to expose a young team to team shape for the first time.

    Great video
    I used this with my team and it really helped my players to understand how to play out from the back.

    Ive seen a couple of your videos online now and think this was very beneficial, I'm hoping to take up coaching in the new year and this will be one of my 1st plans once I'm settled. Thank you for the vid. I think the 433 formation is the best formation because of its variety 👍

    Team shape is one of the challenges we've faced. I think this is a great drill. It would be helpful if you could show the drills as you have been and then show the same drill being taught to your players.

    this will help a lot for my U13 team which is entering 11v11 this summer. Too bad we train in an indoor 60x30 yd facility because of snow but breaking it down to smaller numbers like you showed is useful considering the space available.

    Hello Tom, this is a great way to practice team shape while in possession. Do you have a live action video of this drill? Also, if you don't have one, can you show how to teach team shape when not in possession?

    I don't have any video footage of this activity but I'll put it on my list of things to do this spring. I'll do one on defending shape as well.

    I coach a high school boys team where about half the players had never played organized soccer before, so they constantly drift out of position. I’m going to try this set up at practice and see if it helps

    Tom what do you do when it is one defender/ two defenders versus everyone? Like how does the game end or restart, whats the goal of the game? also what is your twitter or email to send questions to the podcast, i listen to it everyweek and love it!! great work

    • @WORLDCLASSCOACHING
      @WORLDCLASSCOACHING  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nick, I add two or three goals for the team in possession to build out and finish. If the defenders win the ball they can try to score in the large goal. As the players improve I add more defenders. I give my email address at the end of every podcast. Feel free to reach out anytime.
