I think L would be the vampire and Light would be the fairy not for lore reasons, but just their personality traits. L is pale, typically in a dark room, and always snacking. I think vampires would think blood is sweet like candy.
Light, on the other hand, was the popular, genius, model student. The trope, at least in fantasy terms, fits better with a fairy than a classic vampire. Light is also very arrogant much like the fae were stereotyped as in folklore.
And THEN there’s a Necromancer who is friends with both Light and L, and tries to get them out of whatever heck hole they’ve gotten into.

I don’t see it as that big a deal, you can buy blood at a lot of grocery stores. On that note, I think it’s safe to say that blood mixed with milk would be really nutritious, but you’re guaranteed to throw up immediately.
