- Bolbbalgan4 (BOL4) is called the "digital monster", making lots of idols anxious whenever they make a comeback. However, on April 2nd, member Woo Ji Yoon suddenly announced that she would be leaving the group, and BOL4 would be active with one member. The reason given by the company is that the female singer faced many concerns about her future career path. Bol4 K fans who were there already cleared up this misunderstanding.. that day jiyoung was already drenched from head to toe so the manager in charge of her naturally would be more concerned of her.. it didn't take long for Jiyoon's manager to come later... if there's really mistreatment from their company would Jiyoon even stayed until now and more incidents would have been reported.. there's a dedicated bunch of K loBolys who followed bol4 to every events/festivals they would've notice if something's wrong... you can only criticize their company for not giving Jiyoon more opportunities but not mistreatment.

If you watched reality shows featuring them you would noticed how jiyong always act cute and coquettish every time the host(s) try to focus on jiyoon, to get the spotlight back to her. I honestly think jiyoon was doomed from the start to be in the same group with such a selfish jiyong.
I’m not trying to accuse Jiyoung for anything. I just wanna say that if I were able to chase my dreams while having my best friend by my side, that’s a huge blessing in life right there. And, me and my best friend, we’re always huddled up next to each other, it’s not hard to see the connection between us. But I’m not sure if I can say the same for Bol4. They don’t seem to have the chemistry you’d typically expect out of a friendship of 10 years.

If you really did know about bol4, is that it used to be a 3 member group with ji young as featured vocal, and jiyoon and Kwon jiwon as back up vocal/guitarist. Jiyoon even stated since the beginning that she chooses not to have much lines because she is naturally introverted/shy. Do I think that jiyoon has been treated unfairly and deserves better? And like I said in my original comment, I am PRO jiyoon and think she should have more lines. Mina never said “I just want to be supportive role” or purposefully “I don’t want more lines” but jiyoon did say that.

i do feel bad that jiyoon had to leave to release her own music instead of being given solo projects under the same company while also staying in bol4. BUT lots of comments here seem to not realise that these girls started as a quartet - a band. jiyoung even said in one interview that the band needed a vocalist so she joined. they auditioned in superstar k as a BAND. and like many bands, they have one singer which was jiyoung. the other two members left before they got signed by shofar, so they debuted as a duo instead of a band and this gave many people the misconception that they both should sing. they are not a kpop idol group where everyone has lines. it is totally normal for a band to have one person sing everything.
and i think yall need to stop spreading lies that jiyoon writes songs and composes, etc and she's more important that jiyoung. because that is so far from the truth. about 90% of bol4 songs are written, composed AND PRODUCED by jiyoung. jiyoon gets like one song written and produced every album. her only self produced song in bol4's discography (not co-written with jiyoung) are FIX ME, IMAGINE, CLIP, PICNIC. and while it's sad to say this, bol4's sound really is mostly just jiyoung.

To be honest, I didn't know that BOL4 was duo until I did Google search. All the vocals were sang by just one person and in video, it was just jiyoung. I am happy that jiyoon made this decision. I've always felt she's didn't get a chance to show her talents in the group. She seldom get lines or much screen time in mvs. It felt more like a solo singer than a duo. It's too biased. I always felt that's so weird. Sad that her friend/ partner felt such treatment is ok and went along with it for so many years. If you listen to her sing on her Instagram, she has a nice and special voice too. Totally well suited for the group's style yet she never got the chance. I can understand why she chooses to leave. She can sing, she can play instruments, she can even write songs but she spent years overshadowed with no chance to grow. If she stayed this way for any longer, no one will ever see her and she'll fall further and further back. I'm happy she's out on her own. Show them what you've got! It never made sense to me, there literally only two members, it doesn’t need to be a 50/50 line/ screen time distribution but it kind of needs to be more that 10/90
I've seen a lot of group having one or some of their member leave because not of being mistreated or cast àside but because they either wanna go solo or just go back to having a peaceful life but still have the bond as a group/family, but this group is a big disappointment and tbh I may sound harsh but a group member like them would tarnish the name of a group that is family. From the beginning, i wonder why she together with the vocal. Her role seem like playing guitar which the other girl can do. She has amazing voice but never get to sing at all. The other one seem very kind but she must pretend to not know what happen to her friend. It just like she need an ugly one to make her more shine.

I never understood why one of them was shining alone :/ When I saw their performance of „some“ for the first time I thought the one w the guitar was just a random guitarist and not even part of the „group“
