I find it funny during the Quake's Mini-Movie Viewer and Quisp's Cosmic Clouder commercial, Quisp tricks Quake into thinking that the dam has busted again prompting him to race to the rescue but not without tell the younger audience not to go away once he'll be right back. I also love how Quisp is confronted by Quake, who discovers he's been tricked, is feeling angry at him for spoiling his commercial every time and decides to give him a taste of his own medicine so Quisp cools him off with his cosmic clouder by pulling its trigger to make a mysterious white cloud that can turn enemies into friends starting with Quake who admits that he likes to feel friendly towards the kids.

Gerard Baldwin animated the first circus ad. He briefly worked at Hanna-Barbera (1959) before going to Jay Ward Productions. The mouth movements, especially on the ringmaster, give it away.

That's amazing. Mouth movements. Now can you lip read ? On the silent bumpers ? Hey. I saw a Flintstones Winston commercial that was computer colorized. You might like. Thanks for the history Christopher.

@@stevenhanson1454 - Check out a real “exaggerated” Baldwin mouth movement….look on YT for the Cheerios Bullwinkle Thanksgiving ad with Boris. Also the second episode of “Hoppity Hooper” (an unusual one with background music), where Waldo discovered a hair-growing formula. A street named “BALDwin Blvd.” was mentioned!

These animated commercials feel very Rocky and Bullwinkle-esque.

Yeah. I think they used some of the same backgrounds. Dudley Doo-Right and stuff. The mountain called "Why don't you take a peak". Has to be the same writers and animators and voices.

And by all means, we cannot forget in Super Chicken, the Isle of Lucy!
Kentucky Fried Movie had that pun too. I hope Jay Ward was able to pocket from KFM!

I'm thinking 1960's. I'll have to look it up. Snidely Whiplash and Nell are even in some of these.
Quaker Oats could have had a Cartoon Show with these guys and Captain Crunch.

@@stevenhanson1454 - They could, but it wouldn’t have lasted. The FCC got involved with the “Linus the Lionhearted” series, with characters already on cereal boxes…determining that LTL was basically a 30-minute commercial! This may have been where years later it was mandatory for kids’ shows to have that “we’ll be back aftwr these messages”/“now, back to our show” deal. I’d like to think kids had at least A LITTLE sense to know the difference…

@@christopherdunne7848 Well we never died by mercury poisoning. We obviously rode our bicycles for miles, without being abducted. And we ate the best SUGAR cereal and watched the best TV, without going blind. Plus our Grandmothers bought us Chocolate.

Quisp is voiced by Daws Butler.

Quisp is sometimes available on Amazon.com. Quaker Oats makes a special edition now & then. Expensive.
