I hope you're right. They've managed to turn a beautiful natural event into an ordeal for the locals. And they seem quite happy to do it.

Are you guys serious? Why is everyone acting like they've never seen an eclipse before? We had one in Bloomington in 2017 and nobody cared. Stop encouraging more people to come to Bloomington for this. Because of all the marketing now we're having to worry about strangers showing up and parking on our lawns. The police in Ellettsville are saying we should be proactive and charge for parking. But if someone gets hurt on your property, you're screwed. It may be great for the Bloomington city leaders who like to pretend Bloomington is the "big city", but it's supposedly going to obstruct the roadways. I'm getting distinct vibes that they'll just overlook it for the cash instead of making people mind the law. It's the same way they handle students. Any complaints by "townies" will probably be ignored. I predict a fight or two.

Bloomington wasn't in the path of totality in 2017, but it was this time, which is why so many people were expected.

We drove to Bloomington from Orlando, FL. You all come to my city all the time for tourism and make life harder for the locals so consider your debts paid after this. 😂 In all seriousness though, I absolutely enjoyed my time there and it was the most stunning natural setting for the total eclipse. Everyone there was so kind and it was bonus that hardly anyone else traveled to your city for the eclipse. It was calm, peaceful, uncrowded, and there was zero traffic. That is exactly what I was hoping for. Really though, thank you so very much for making this once in a lifetime otherworldly experience so special! I cried during totality.
