    It's so awesome to see these old towns. I wonder if you did this video again if the population is different and even the landscape. I wonder also if you could possibly see if any more people are moving into the surrounding areas. This was so fun to watch, thanks.

    Oh how I love these old towns. I had the privilege of living in Pony, Montana for over 3 years. It's just an awesome aspect of American culture that is almost lost. And who would not like this video? Shame on those 11 people.

      I believe so. I made this recording in 2005 but this is such an important historical piece of equipment that they have probably left it there even if there is no one to watch it.

    One aspect which intrigues me is wood joinery where iron nails, for example and not in great supply.

    This place is beautiful. The type of place I love to tour. I think I am going to make plans to visit Idaho after seeing this. It really captures that old western look, and also is just pure beauty. I'm from Kentucky, we have many beautiful places here too, but this Video really opened my eyes to what I am missing! thank you for posting! Idaho is really very cool!

    Very enjoyable videos. My great-great grandfather was an Idaho miner. Nice to get a sense about where and how he lived.
    Could you tell us about the music? Who the artist is or where we can find his or her recordings.

    • @danholtvideo
      @danholtvideo  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +TheVolosong We recorded these Ghost Towns in 2005. Thelma Drayer, who lives up the road from here played the piano music. She has a couple of CD's (Thelma Drayer at the Piano #1 "Alley Cat" and other favorites--47 Min.) (Thelma Drayer at the Piano #2 "Missouri Waltz" and other Favorites--43 Minutes). They are about $9.00 each (ppd).

    I've been to all of them. Bonanza area there were many cabins and mills but they have beeb naturally deteriorated for the last few years, and that is sad.

    • @danholtvideo
      @danholtvideo  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I saw some photos of Bonanza from many years ago and it was a very interesting ghost town. Wish I could have videotaped it then, but this is all that's left today. Just the jail and whatever else you can find.

    • @danholtvideo
      @danholtvideo  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry, I was thinking you were talking about Bonanza, Oregon. This Bonanza still has buildings standing.

      @@danholtvideo hi , thanks so much for this video , I have been looki,g for a pick of this cabin in delamar since it burned down in 1997 and my dad in law dale passed away shortly after, do you still have the photos and did you talk to him. Thanks

    • @danholtvideo
      @danholtvideo  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hope you got my reply on your website. I interviewed Dale, your father-in-law in 1989. You can watch it on "Ghost Towns of Oregon #2C". It's on TH-cam. There is a 2A, 2B, and 2D also and since I didn't get his last name, just called him "Dale the Mountain Man" at the end of my videos. Maybe you could fill me in on a little more information and his last name. It sounds like you're into exploring as much as I am.

  • @HappyQuailsLC
    @HappyQuailsLC 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just a suggestion. When you are editing, determine what length of time is needed for each segment before putting them to lively music, otherwise you will find that you have some hurried scenes merely because the scene best the music, not the other way around which would be the ideal.

    • @danholtvideo
      @danholtvideo  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +HappyQuails Thanks. I usually get everything edited and then measure the length and then pick the music. I may not have the exact amount of music, so sometimes need to start the next sound before the music is finished.

      No, Johnny; the most elk I've seen in all my journeys was up on the east ridge overlooking Troy, Oregon, but then, that's a "no hunting" zone.

    • @danholtvideo

      Loretta, Idaho isn't expensive at all. About the same as Oregon. There are more millionaires in Idaho that about any other state per capita, I think.
