I think you will be pleased, I held off for a couple years and was making my own with tarps and poles, but happy I made the purchase.

A great place to put a bucket to capture rain water for boiling water!

I like how the awning trick will keep the water off!

I picked up a 270 awning a couple of years ago, cheap. I use those TopOak brackets to attach it to my tent. They're awesome. As to staking down the awning, if it's windy, stake it down at the poles. If it's raining, stake down between the poles to keep water from pooling. I've had mine up in a tropical storm, and yes, I had it staked at both poles and mid points. I usually always stake out the outside poles for rigidity. Attach a couple of eyebolts to the channel of your tent and use that to attach the tension cord. The one on your passenger side can be close to the rear as it's just to tension the awning. That'll keep it out of the way of your ladder and privacy enclosure. I run a very similar setup to yours so I've figured this out over the past couple years. When it comes time to replace my current awning (starting to show some wear and tear) I'll pickup the TopOak. I'm hoping they release a wall kit for it.

Thank you for your comment, and I like the idea of the eye bolts, I will have to install those, it makes sense! I haven't been in that bad of a storm yet! I would like to see sides as well, it does have velcro all around the edge of it so if they don't come up with one, I will rig something up. I think you will be happy with it.

I just bought an awning and tent from them this fall. I asked them about walls and was told it’s in the works. They were unable to give a timeline.

Thanks for the video! I have been considering the TopOak 270 and I would like to know if the bag leaks and lets water in when it is fully closed and zipped. Either when driving through bad weather or just having the awning stowed while the vehicle is parked during a storm. I currently have an OVS Nomad HD 270 and it leaks and holds water inside the bag so badly that the awning itself is actually sitting in the water until I go outside and unzip the bag to let the water drain out (and yes, I have called OVS, spoken to one of their engineers, confirmed everything was installed correctly including their rubber plugs in the channels in the back, they even sent extras, which also didn't help). I have also seen several videos with the same complaint on other brands of 270 awnings (Darche comes to mind specifically).

Hello and so far no, this year in Missouri we had more than our share of weather rain and snow and so far it hasn't, I made a trip to Kentucky and on the way home it poured the whole way at highway speeds. I was sure when I unzipped it, it would be full of water and I was surprised when it wasn't. One thing I did was run some silicone around the bolts where I attached it to my jeep bracket, and I always make sure the zippers are met in the middle at the bottom of the awning. I don't know if that has anything at all to do with it, but you may try that if you haven't already.

Where did you get the rear door window Molle panels? That would be great for my dogs! Thanks and great video.

Hello, Thank you for the comment, they are perfect for keeping our dogs in and getting great airflow. I bought them on Amazon, here is a link, amzn.to/4fJPSWc I also did another video on how I installed them, thanks again.

It looks OK, but it would be better to tighten the rope a little bit. With a rope tightener, it would be easier to install if the other end has a buckle.

Thank you for your comment, I agree, they do look better with everything tight and stretched out, what type of buckle do you use?

Hi, Thank you for your comment, The side that goes along the side of your vehicle is 226" by 163" across the back, it's76.8 tall and at the wides point is 84.5". Overall it is 172 sq feet. I'm sorry, I'm not sure which seat you are referring to. I hope that helps.
