    Interesting use of the filler on the bottom of the breast plate for the smooth finish. Overall, really nice job. Hopefully as you continue you'll be able to build your tool collection to restore things to your standards.

      Hey Luke thanks for watching. Yes not my best work, I would really love a lathe to tidy up that main gear. I couldn't think of any other way to clean up the breast plate, the filler did the job but to be honest even that felt dodge. Haven't heard from you in a while, really appreciate your comments. 😀

    excellent restoration - I have a very similar Yankee drill - bit more advanced - has a spirit level and different drive system - my dad picked it up in WW2 - have been intending to restore it so some good tips here as much of the engineering is the same as on your drill. Keep up the good work. regards from Manchester UK.

      Hi Habip good question. I used an epoxy paint it's meant to set hard. The drill will not get used much though. It's currently sitting in an old bookcase in my workshop full of all my projects.

    Why would you ruin the the piece by filling in the underside of the top plate with body filler?
    Completely unnecessary and ugly and devalues the piece.
    Your workmanship is amazing which is why I don’t understand the decision to do that.

    • @Austeration
      @Austeration  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching Stanley. From memory the underside was pretty messed up from the previous damage and repairs. Seemed like the best option at the time I guess.
