Rick and Negan are one in the same. They have pieces of each other in their ideologies. The trials changed them, in their own ways. Both doing what it takes to survive.
The story arc here is more momentous than any other. Even if you think he's evil. Hes only done what Rick has done yet more effectively. Yet he let's rick try it his way. Just to prove how unworthy the world is at that point.
Don't forget the story of Negan really covers over 6 years on the show. Most of it in a cell with a lot of time to think about things. One skill Negan never lost is his ability to read people or to size up a situation and make the right call (His exchanges with Judith are fun to watch). His return trip to the santuary was a sobering experience but he's pragmatic enough to know where his future and his best chance to survive are.
With season 9 being one of the best seasons ever, evil Negan at the end of Season 6 feels like a lifetime ago, a whole other show even. I'm so glad this show is so great again, and Negan is on his path to redemption. Love these Story videos Kek, this one might be my new favourite after the Rick one, the transictions, coloring and voice over are just PERFECT ;)

The show should just be about Negan. His story is far more interesting than anyone else. Also he has the best character arc in the whole series. The Saviors were flawed but all of these communities are. They had the best infrastructure (not in terms of civil engineering infrastructure but they had a large population, an economy, a network of communities and outposts, hierarchy, civil rules and just overall damn good organization. Alexandria was an isolated group of people that survived by staying off the radar. They had no network and everyone lived equally in large suburban houses. It was not a sustainable society at all. Even in the comics when Rick took over everything, he admitted that he was just copying Negan's blueprint. The only way Negan failed was trusting the wrong people and being betrayed. A lot of people say Negan was too hard on his people and they were slaves with nothing to be happy about. That's demonstrably not true for 2 major reasons; 1. The people in the sanctuary looked up to Negan and panicked when they thought he was gone. He provided safety, food and shelter... more than anyone else could say. 2. In society, before and after TWD collapsed society, people were simply not equal. There is merit in the world just as in TWD Sanctuary. People have to work shit jobs with long hours for extremely little pay. That's how it's always been and will always be.

I'm on s8 and I seen a bit of spoilers that Negan is a bigger part of the recent season. I cried watching this cause you wanted to hate him, but then he kind of became a character that brought interest to the show then he does something to remind you why you shouldnt like him. A lot of people hate Negan because he killed Abraham and Glen. Two beloved characters. But the reason they are so beloved is only because of our perspective that the show gives us. If the show would have followed Negan and the Saviors from the beginning, like Rick and the Atlanta group, after what the group did to those people at the Outpost we would have been screaming for blood! The choices Rick and the group made were just as bad as Negan and the Saviors. There isn’t a difference here. Now, Negan has a lot of bad qualities but so does everyone on the show. No one is solely evil. No one is solely good. People hate Negan because the show made them love those characters and gave us no empathy for what Negan lost at the hands of Rick and the group. Both actions were just as wrong and just as horrible. Just my two cents lol.

A lot of people hate Negan because he killed Abraham and Glen. Two beloved characters. But the reason they are so beloved is only because of our perspective that the show gives us. If the show would have followed Negan and the Saviors from the beginning, like Rick and the Atlanta group, after what the group did to those people at the Outpost we would have been screaming for blood! The choices Rick and the group made were just as bad as Negan and the Saviors. There isn’t a difference here. Now, Negan has a lot of bad qualities but so does everyone on the show. No one is solely evil. No one is solely good. People hate Negan because the show made them love those characters and gave us no empathy for what Negan lost at the hands of Rick and the group. Both actions were just as wrong and just as horrible. Just my two cents lol.
