  • Rick drives a 20-mile Lake District loop through pastoral valleys, over rugged mountain passes, and beside peaceful lakes. Stops along the way include a family-run sheep farm that doubles as a B&B, a tour through a still-functioning slate mine, and a local's lesson in the bewildering game of cricket.

    I think it is great that Rick connects w/ ordinary people rather than visiting only the usual tourist sites. It gives one a feel for the personality of a country that is otherwise missed. And yes, I too am glad that I work in a carpeted, air conditioned office, and not in a slate mine. 09/18/2013

    Lake Districts are mesmerizing in natural beauty. Wordsworth's poetry was inspired here. But, in Northern Pakistan unparralled scenic beauty awaits tourists and admirers of Nature in the purest form.

    Spent time here a few months ago, and really enjoyed that drive...but the road is much more narrow, tortuous, and, in places, STEEPER than this video shows!! Can't wait to go back.

    From Keswick head south and visit Grasmere and Ambleside and then cross over the Wrynose and Hardknott Pass and head for Wasdale Head with Wast Water and the Scafells , following a pint in the Wasdale Head Inn which sits in the shadow of Great Gable you can head back to Keswick. Also do the Honnister Pass south of Derwent Water.

    Newlands did have a body of water which was drained centuries ago. Hence the name New-Lands. It's an amazing place and a hotbed of mining activity.

    I've never been to England but I've been to NZ before and by the look of it England looks kinda similar to NZ...at least the countryside. can someone tell me if I'm right?

      New Zealand is often considered in the UK to have a fairly similar look to parts of the country. Geological features in NZ appear to be larger though - things such as hills, mountains, lakes etc.

    • @maxisussex
      @maxisussex 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are no visas available to fruit pickers/packers. To get a visa you need to be sponsored by an employer and earn a minimum of £30,000. A fruit packer would get around half that, £16,000.

    For a seasoned traveler this Rick guy displays a lot of ignorance. While his lack of knowledge about cricket is understandable, his insistence that the various terms, bowler, run, batsman etc are some reinterpretation of U.S. baseball terminology is laughable; cricket having been around much longer than baseball....or is that Rounders?

    • @MrDaiseymay
      @MrDaiseymay 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Baseball goes back to 1744--formerly known as Rounder's before it transfered to the USA. some of the basic reference terms are very much like cricket --no need to relight the wars of independance over it.
