    Ten years ago and your video still helping others to solve their oil sight glass problem. Not only that, I could see that you replied someone's question nine years later. That's very nice of you. Thank you for posting this video. I will apply your technique to replace the oil sight glass in my motorcycle.

    OK... I have waited more than two weeks to fix this because the shops were telling me I had to r+r the whole clutch cover.
    Thanks, you really need to know how cool this is... extremely helpful to people, you are to be commended.
    I've been pining for my bike bad... perfect weather right now.

    Thank You, this video even years later is still relevant and the quickest most concise explanation I've found. Hit me up if you ever run into trouble with anything Computer/Networking/ITsecurity/Electrical gremlin related i definitely owe you one.

    Fyi...just changed the sight glass on my 2015 ninja 300. If the glass is just cracked and still intact, I did not need to drain the oil. With the bike on the kickstand, zero oil dripped out when I removed the sight glass. Pryed it out with a small flathead screwdriver and it came out in one piece. Cleaned the opening with some degreaser. Had the new glass in the freezer overnight, fit in perfectly. Gave the edges a few small taps with a hammer, using the rubber handle of a screwdriver. Let it sit in my hot garage for a day and it's completely sealed. Saved me alot of work not having to drain the oil. Definitely wouldn't recommend if the glass has shattered.

    No it didn't leak at all. Once the O-ring warms up, it expands and creates a water tight seal.

    What is the point of using degreaser? Wouldent the new ring slide in easier if there were some oil residue left after the broken sight glass was removed?

    Did it leak at all? Doesn't seem too tight of a fit. Btw, why didn't you just unbolt the rear set?

    @mrcoolkid1029 Is your slight glass OEM? If it's aftermarket, the glass might have a darker tint to it. You might try shining a an LED flashlight at it to see what the oil level is. If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll do some research on it.

    I would think so. The sight glass is a little bigger, but the principle is still the same.

    So would this be the same for a 1993?

    • @cmwyles81
      @cmwyles81 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure, but if the sight glass is anything like the 2005, then it should be. The bike might be different, but the principle is still the same.

    • @Rain_Zima
      @Rain_Zima 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Christopher Wyles if its the same for a 2005 it should be the same for my 89 and the same for your 93 +Graham Strang same engine. they even used the same carbs until they went EFI
