It could possibly be the best EVER car in F1, why? Because next year, there's the bargeboard restrictions, etc, that could nerf the car. Not to mention the budget & token restrictions. And in 2022 all the car will be slower than it is now (but it'll be more tuned to make close racing possible). So all in all? Yes it *Could* be the best F1 Car *Ever*
I think of all the people George is the one who deserves this the most. He has been working so much and I'm just glad to see him get this huge opportunity this weekend.

Wishing King Lewis a speedy recovery, but would love to see George compete in the Mercedes for both of the last two races. That's how we will get a real glimpse of the future.
The Hamilton haters have been saying for years that the rookie Lewis doing so well when he started driving for McLaren was expected because (yet again) its all down to the car.
It is absolutely hilarious to see the huge volume of comments making excuses for George already and playing down expectations of his results from the same Hamilton hating dirtbags and presenters who will once again revert to "its all the car" when Lewis gets back.

@@jamestruth8235 It's not all down to the car. But it's more down to the car than to the driver in this era of F1. And nobody can deny that. But people shouldn't take away the skill of Lewis or Vettel's titles. Lewis is no doubt one of the best drivers of his generation and possibly the best. But you can never tell for sure. It's all down to who you like. For me that's Verstappen because of his aggression and speed. Everyone has there own favorite drivers and drivers they don't like. I don't understand why people can't leave it at that.
@@norbertjanssen814 Anything but a podium is a disgrace. Hamilton got 9 straight podiums when he was a rookie and George can no longer be described as a rookie so there are no excuses for not being on the podium as a minimum. I hope he gets it because he's a genuinely nice guy who deserves a break.
Russell is already a hero of mine for being talented, down to earth, and his 100% commitment to the sport. It's only the beginning for him.

This is going to be brilliant to watch. Seeing how one of the hottest prospects on the grid handles going from the slowest car to the fastest car, with all the challenges of it being someone else's. This is the spectator sport we all long for.

I’m glad this opportunity to drive for Mercedes hasn’t all gone to his head and is super chill about it. Also I appreciate that George is very aware of what car he is driving and indeed who’s seat he is sitting in and everything that represents.

I am a long time Lewis Hamilton fan and I feel that this is a lousy situation for him and his fans but I also feel that the team made the best choice in George Russel, George shows respect and maturity towards Lewis, the team and the opportunity. Gotta say I’m so eagerly anticipating this race that I can’t stop smiling when I think about it😀 get in there George!

*If* he get a second chance in Abu Dhabi, he might aim for at least a Podium. Because after a race, it'll help him get familiar with the car and the team, he'll be more confident at that point.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he sticks it on pole. He’s been dragging that Williams around by the scruff of its neck all season, massively outdriving the car. He absolutely has the one-lap talent to do really well on Saturday.
For the race, I’d love to see him on the top step, but managing a completely unfamiliar car over a full race distance is a totally different game from a hot lap. I can see it being very easy to wreck the tyres in short order because the car’s quite different to him. I reckon he’ll have done well to be well up in the points, and a podium would be fantastic. Still, fingers crossed for George...
