This song was the first I finished on ‘Songs For You’ - it started life as an attempt at an uplifting poem and became a little hymn and then this song. It’s very special to me.
The video was conceived by my brilliant friend Georgia King; she captured the grimy melancholic ache of longing, support and love. But there is hope, the building of the ‘sun tv wall’, the stitching together of memories, the ultimate relief of seeing someone strong and ready to ‘rise up’ again. My friend and Punisher co-star, Floriana Lima, graciously agreed to love me for the day.
…The string arrangement by Oliver Krauss is just the most special thing that happened on this record. He melted my heart with this.

What a beautiful song! Very poetic. Very sensible as well. We can almost feel the sunlight on the face. This is a very detailed description of the sun rise, with interesting stylistic devices. As an example:
"Let the sea catch fire
See the red rocks crack"
Sea/see obviously. The "r" and "k" alliteration that gives the sound of the fire cracking.
Of course, the sunrise is also metaphor for the hope, when people are stuck in a pit of despair.
"Let the dark expire
No shadow at my back"
The "dark" can be seen as the depression, and the shadows are the regrets. The sun is someone helping.
Then, it is a love song. For the regretted ex-loved-one ? Maybe. So the sun is here, the new love banishing all the pain remaining from previous relationships.
There are so many other things to analyse! English teachers can have some fun time XD.
All in all, I understand this song as "you suffered a lot, but now, it will be ok. The sun is rising for you, burning your pain, bathing your wounds. Have hope".
