My favourite thing about Psy’s dances are how visual they are. Within one watch, you can imitate the main moves even if you’re not 100% correct. It’s so cool!

    • @steezystudio
      @steezystudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +257

SO TRUE! The dances are eye candy, music is earworm, and just catchy as heck! All without feeling like he’s pandering to audiences. He’s genuinely making videos, moves, and music that feels so good

yes! i am by NO MEANS a dancer and couldn't even dream of pulling off a majority of kpop dance moves but even i was doing the left-right-up-down move in my chair on like the 3rd rewatch. i so want to get the finger guns down but the switch from forward to side-under-the-arm trips me up.

Fun fact: Suga made the beat and composed this song with Psy in mind. He texted him about the song and Psy convinced Suga to produce, then feature and next thing you know, Suga was also dancing in this MV! 😂

@@steezystudio it's amazing that unplanned became iconic! Additional interesting info, since Suga was not supposed to dance, he then had to learn the choreo that others already had learned. The choreographer went over it and he picked it up so quickly the choreographer exclaimed about it. Suga"s iconic response:
"I am an idol, you know."
      BAM! 😄😄😄

@@percy_coro_cos They truly are. You can check out their TH-cam channel, they also chorographed for zico, dawn, some performances on Loud, Queendom2 and Kingdom. They're a kinda of "in-house" chorographer team for KQ entertainment, so they use their practice rooms, make choreo for ateez, and are actually ateez's dance teachers!

The way PSY dances may seem to others “unsophisticated”, but he really knows how to hook his audience with entertaining, yet complex movements. He interprets the lyrics very well in his tone of dancing and facial expressions. I think my go to move for a party would definitely be his that that main move 😂

I really like these two doing commentary together. They're really good at building on each other's observations. It's not that they agree on everything, but they're so good at the "yes, and" concept of improv acting, but as dance and choreo commentary. Plus, they're funny together and bring a lot of positive energy! Awesome job, guys.

I totally agree that PSY is the "people's artist"!! Esp. with how they choreographed placements on their group dances, he often shares the stage with SUGA or even steps back to let him or the backup dancers shine more. It's like while he isn't necessarily the most eye-catching person in the group, he's the one the whole room's energy revolves around! Eye of the storm or something like that!

I love watching Dom and Clay react together. Their commentaries are so insightful, fun, enjoyable! Appreciate how they (and all steezy videos) educate us on the dancers who created the dancers and call out that it’s important to learn about the culture and context from which they originate. As a fellow nerd/geek, love that they’re both un apologetically dance geeks! It’s so cool to watch and learn from them. Also a fan of how big of a K-pop fan Dom layered on her immense dance knowledge-her reactions are so pure haha. Psy is super creative and gives off vibes of someone who is passionate/intentional about his craft and gets a lot of joy out of it, so glad that he’s getting the attention and recognition he deserves.

Thank you for your comment on context, history and culture behind dances! I recently took a house dance class and learned so much about where the form came from. When we’re watching folks on social media or commercial/popular artists perform these dances, oftentimes it is removed from the original context. I appreciate your call out to that.
My go to is a wine! You can roll your hips to almost anything, and it’s good for a quick wake-up to my hips and back in the morning.

ok this is really random but i love STEEZYs style of editing- i have adhd so like the little zoom ins when they say things or just showing visuals when they’re talking about something it helps me pay attention so much- like you’d be surpised how many channels doesn’t do that but it’s just really nice

1:43 "it's pedestrian with commitment" actually that's also what PSY is haha, i think his appeal is that he's a regular everyman who just puts 110% into concerts (encores for hours), into high-energy performing, into being serious about his goofy dancing, into training for singing with his average-person vocal range and voice by running on the treadmill while he sings (to train his cardio), and just practicing a lot. he's also a social butterfly and a class clown from when he was in school, which is great for making connections.

I came here all because I wanna watch anything That That related, but ended up learning a whole lot of information from Clay and Dom. They break it down and explained it well for people who knows absolutely nothing about dance and stuff. Pretty cool people.

my go-to party dance move is a good old hip roll, Shakira once said hips don't lie and I took that as a life philosophy hehe

AhI love watching your reactions so much because you guys bring up so many points that someone like me who isn't well-versed in dance at all could never think of! The context thing in particular was very interesting to me.
My favorite party dance move is everything waves and body rolls, with a couple of snaps and claps :D Thanks for this reaction!

PSY is the most engaging and lovable entertainer! He creates magic! Many years ago, when PSY performed Gangnam style, I was attending a California high school football game, and the pre-game was a game of grade school boys. The game paused for a few minutes after a play, and over the loudspeaker, Gangnam Style began to play. Suddenly, all the tiny football players on the field began to dance the moves to the song.I did not know what was happening, but when the referee signaled for the game to continue, the players kept dancing! It was a fun moment for everyone in attendance. The power of dance and PSY spread across the world in a joyful way and I am happy to see PSY is still giving us a reason to smile and dance for the fun of it! PSY and SUGA created something, together, that all ages can enjoy. The choreography fits the joyful message of the song.

If we’re talking party dance moves, I love near all of them but shuffling holds a spot in my heart. While it’s not something I hopped into as a style, just dancing as if I’m like in an LMFAO/Redfoo video always feels fun 😆
For the Psy video, I just love the hands held up and pointing during the “Do what you want! Say what you want!”
