  • This tutorial shows how to make 3 different simple hoops earring styles. This is part of an ongoing series, so check out parts 1 and 2 for other fun hoop earring styles. These are beginner level projects. For materials, I used 18 (1.02 mm) and 20 (.79 mm) gauge sterling round wire, 18 (1.02 mm) gauge copper round wire, 12 (2.01 mm) gauge sterling square wire, and 6 gauge (4.09 mm) sterling half round wire. As always, I use hard silver sheet solder and My-T-Flux.

    All 3 pretty, I like the one with the inside decorations most. I usually also don't have a problem when pickling silver and copper. But the brass pickled turns 'copper' many times.

      Me too! I have also been experienced brass being plated with copper, but it has polished off easily:)

    Great projects to make and riff off of for more projects. Among my faves as I love the floral and feminine designs.

    I've been binge watching your videos and love your style and content! I've been smithing for many years, but am self taught as there was no access to formal training. I have already learned so much and gotten some renewed inspiration from watching you. I think in one video you mentioned which torch you are using, but now I can't find it. Thank you for your amazing videos!

      Hello HeyChristine! My torch is an Acetylene/air torch made by Smith. It used to be called the Handi-heat, but they rebranded it as "The Silversmith:)". I'm really glad you are enjoying the videos!

    Love all of those!
    On the first pair could you squash both ends in the rolling mill so it is narrower at the front but wider at the sides? - save all the filing… having says that silver dust is very useful for adding texture. I never have enough.

    Great video. It makes sense that you wouldn’t show the whole process of filing a piece of metal down. However, it would be nice to know if you could. mention in passing how long it took.

    I have 1 more question. When you put the earrings in the tumbler, does it matter if you leave the ear wires open or closed in the notch on the hoops?

    • @chadssilversmithing
      @chadssilversmithing  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello Adina! I polished these on a polishing wheel, but if you are tumbling them, I would leave them unlatched.
