    I love your work Jason!
    I would suggest that Eureka Red’s are quite aggressive compared to other Peacocks - your sunshine’s, Mara Rocks etc. I have 2 males in a 90 and they are very aggressive to each other when someone wants to challenge the heirarchy. They’ll fight for hours.
    They’re probably not as aggressive as OB’s who have Zebra Red in their genetics - they’re more aggressive again than your ER’s.
    Thanks for the content - you’re a legend!

      Ya, I agree the males can be tough on one another.

    I just started to appreciate this fish species after it grew triple the size we bought from the pet shop. Love this beautiful fish. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge.

    So helpful in many ways…if nothing else, you actually show a eureka red, and not an otter point which everyone else seems to confuse with it.
    See you at the next GCCA meeting!

    Very nice video. I just got myself a nice colourful male with 6 females and will be putting them in a 65 gallon high tank due to the fact they like to swim midwater to the top. Thanks for the information.

    I had recently ordered some Ruby Red Peacock Cichlids through the mail. They are currently juveniles, just like the fry that you are showing at 2:57. About how long before they become almost full size and the colors develop on the males? The juvenile are about the size of the fry in your tank in this video.

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics
      @PrimeTimeAquatics  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The dominant male will usually start showing a little color at around the 2.5in size.

    5 inches sound fair that's a awesome size for a fish. Very interesting that you mixed them with other tropical fish. Was is like tiger Barbs? Anyway thanks for sharing, watched your ad to so you make some change from me stopping in. Deon 0026 supports your channel Teacher

      I had them in a 150 with other peacocks, haps, and larger, quicker non-cichlids for a while (silver dollars, tin foil barbs, bala sharks and even couple larger gouramis. It was interesting in that the cichlids left the non-cichlids alone in that set-up, but I certainly can't say that would happen again and I'm not sure I would try it again. Thanks for the support!

    Interesting my Eureka res is very dominant even w some Mbunas.. although believe mine may be an otter point as he has more blue in his body and fins

      Yeaa mines with mbuna's as well as peacocks and one Hap and man he's the one that gets bullied on the most lol even though he's a juvenile without the blue in face at all I'm trying to think of other's to add to the tank now BC it's a 60 gallon tall tank and there's 7 total 1 Zebra Obli 1 Strawberry Peacock 1 Snow White 1 OB 1 Dolphin 1 Jalo Reef and then the 1 Eureka Red..... All juveniles like 2-3"s... Any suggestions since yours are doing well

    Beautiful fish!!! Thanks for sharing 😊. I love the babies. Great footage! Do you know anything about the Badis Ruber? I got a pair today at my local Aquarium club. Thanks!

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics
      @PrimeTimeAquatics  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know to much about them (never had them), but I believe they come from slow moving ponds and somewhat stagnant water. If I had them I would probably keep flow down in the tank and give them a cave to hang out in. They definitely are cool looking fish - nice pick up!

      My eureka red has a gray body, but has light red in the front around his gills an top dorsal fin. Will his whole body get the red to? Oh do some not turn all red? He is pretty big to about 4".

      That can be tough. Sometimes the weaker fish just get bullied in cichlid tanks - especially when mbuna are present.

      Isn't that something. Every time I put them in with another type of peacock they get beat up, but cichlids are funny that way. They have unique personalities.
