I think I did the same when I got it during my fledgling playthrough. It's also quite a good helm. It has the second best poise per weight ratio out of all the helms in the game. And it's also in the top half, if not top third, for each of the resists per weight, sans curse. Defenses are decent too. And a looks rad.

It's actually somewhat different from accessibility features to which the purpose is for easy access or assistant to people in regards to some problem (ex. ramps/handle bars/elevators/escalators/etc. etc.)

Yeah the Gargoyles are definitely one of those fights where the initial enemy isn't actually that hard but most players will get caught out when the second one appears and they weren't expecting it.
