Thank you for this. i bought the little seed starter kit from the gift shop, and it came with two separate instructions. Both instructions contradicted each other, and the visual aids were extremely unclear.

What if you start the seeds in late summer can you still plant them? What is the soil mix?

Hi, I have several joshua tress about the same size as yours grown from seeds. I recently discovered that about half of the leaves are turning purple and eventually die. They are located in my garden, in regular pots with soil for succulents mixed with sand. I water them very rarely and they do not have root rot. They were all very healthy untill this condition occured. Do you know what may cause this ? My first guess was sunburn, as the purple leaves mostly occur towards the sunny side.

Ok, so doing it like is way faster and more successful as far as the germination process goes. The seed packet just said to put the seed in the provided soil and keep the soil moist. That process takes forever and plus you can see whats happening. Im planting my seeds today🤞 four out of the five in did this to sprouted, which isnt bad. Thanks for the advice.

Correction, just checked the seeds and five out of five sprouted using this method.

@@lovedove7000 The water method is usually the best to ensure that they actually sprout. The hard part is getting them started with their first leaves but after a year it gets easy.

My research says it grows best in sandy, gritty soil. How does it do in regular soil?

It does good 👍 just growing it in sandy hummus rich potting soil. They love it even though such a thing wouldn’t exist in nature as most desert soils have little hummus.

Are there any videos of caring for a larger one? Does anyone know of any videos?

I do know there's a person by the name of Melvin Wei, who has been growing a Joshua Tree from seed for the past seven or eight years now.

@@elexgamingyoutube387 ah yes! I have seen his.. I guess I’m more curious about someone caring for a transplanted one beyond 10+ years old.. I have a 20+ year old transplant and I’m looking for tips!

Any update? I started growing my own. Just curious how long until I transplant them into their own pots. It’s only been a month and I have about 5, 4 inch sprouts.

So far it has started to grow a stem now, it lost three of its leaves but it seems like I will have to transplant it soon, most likely in the next month.
