- I head over to Fort San Pedro and Magellan's Cross in Cebu! At these places, I learn loads about Filipino history! Magellan's Cross symbolizes the start of Christianity in the Philippines, and Fort San Pedro was a Spanish military base.

FUN FACTS
1ST
the world's famous chef, anthony bourdain (who died last year), had promoted pork lechon to the world
surprisingly, he didn't promote any other type of lechon, he only promoted the zubuchon lechon
according to anecdote, the very first pork lechon cooked by zubuchon were really tasty. the pigs were fed with chicos (a sweet fruit that's now becoming a rarity) before they're being roasted to golden brown perfection
the owner of zubochon is an excellent writer & a good friend of bourdain. lately, he had ventured into italian cuisine named pigafetta restaurant (in axis / vibo place)
pigafetta is the famous italian writer who documented the travels & travails of ferdinand magellan (pronounced muh" + "GEL" + "uhn" or məgɛ́lən)
2ND
the original wooden cross planted by magellan in the summer of 1521 was believed to have been encased in that wooden replica. however, some people say the original wood had long been gone
cebu and the rest of the world will be celebrating the 500 year celebration of magellan & his men (2 years from now), who were the first to circumnavigate the world
they are now building (or have already built) a replica of the carracks (smaller than a 16th century spanish galleon ship) used by magellan and his men during their historical journey (they had proven that the world is round or circular)
these carracks will follow the path of magellan's trailblazing adventures and misadventures
magellan's legacy to cebu & the philippines was the conversion of the original cebuano inhabitants from hinduism / buddhism / paganism to christianity
yes, lapulapu (king / datu of mactan) and humabon (king / datu of sugbu or cebu) were hindi or buddhist, not muslim / islamic

You're in One Mango Avenue. Sto. Niño Church is just beside Magellan's cross. Inside the church there is an old architecture and a museum. The Magellan's cross was a small isle used to be surrounded by seawater. Delicious & healthy kangkong and beautiful vlog.👌👌

That’s nutrition veggies the kang kong hope you have lots of subscribers in Cebu take care and I love your vlog because always about the historical about the Philippines thank you Kell 👍👍👍
@Flying Kell....So you already have visited two of the oldest structures and landmarks in the country in this video. You should visit next the oldest church and mother of all churches in the Philippines - Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño, just a few steps from Magellan's Cross. Then head further west to Colon St. - the country's oldest street. Then one block further to the west lies the main campus of the oldest school in the country - the University of San Carlos (USC). A few minutes walk to the north of Colon St. is where you can find the oldest residential stone house in the country - the Yap Sandiego Ancestral House, built in early 17th century. Nearby, is another centuries-old house still standing, built since early 18th century. A few steps to the south of the oldest house lies the 'Cebu Heritage Monument' an ensemble of Cebu's historical events from it's discovery by Magellan until its independence in 1898. Then walk down eastward to Cebu City Cathedral, the second oldest church in the Philippines.

I used to live in cebu for almost 3yrs. And yes, cebu is my second home. I'm really comfortable in cebu. Nice vlog kell as always
im ur top fan subscriber kell.keep the good work
Hi Kell try to go in Ciudad De Victoria in Bocaue, Bulacan next time 😊
notif squad
Yeah, booooi!
Adobong kangkong actually is onlt supposed to be a side dish. Just like having mash potatoes on your plate then steak and buttered veggies as side dish. If you order adobong kanglong only with rice in a resto, you'd be looked down as "having no budget" hehe..however if you do that in a carinderia, it's totally fine.
I was there 3 weeks ago. Went to that place but didnt notice the Wooden cross haha...only after you mentioned "the wooden cross" that it was right there staring at me the whole time haha.
i like this video a lot. nice heritage video. kell, they have awesome universities down in Cebu as well which you might want to vlog about. lastly, what is the title of the song you used in this vlog? it's cool. Sounds like Joakim Karud (i could be wrong though)
Ohoho! You’re in Cebu again Kell! But still haven’t bumped into you.
Yes, Claire!! Maybe we'll bump into each other on the street, haha!
oh...I've been there too...just a few hours ago. Beautiful 😊💕
We missed your vlog, hope you are you are ok. Its been long time already since you are in Cebu.
BTW Kell, kangkong is also the vegetable that we used to feed our pigs as their snacks. lol im not kidding. Spinach is the best equivalent of kangkong in the US.
You''ve uttered the best description ever of Cebu's historic Fort of San Pedro and Magellan's Cross. No wonder this is your coolest vblog ever.
Finally your here in Cebu Kell, hope you enjoy your stay. Hope got a chance to see you here. I suggest you go next to uslob for whale shark adventure or to badian adventure.
Ooohhhh this is amazing!
Thank you, Christian!!
Awwww 😊 okay from now on, I will start rooting on your vlogs! Enjoy your Philippine travel man! 👊
Try to visit University of San Carlos - Talamban Campus
Museo Sugbo (Cebu Museum) is just nearby. You should have visited the museum too.

You are just hundreds of meters away from Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House, where you can find the coolest and spookiest eerie historical stuff. Yeah I mean it, eerie. It's the oldest house in the philippines though

Try the Chop Suey Rice in Chowking Kel. Very healthy meal as well. They have kangkong and tofu as sides there as well. Just use the shrimp paste on the kangkong sparingly as that's very salty. I'm pretty sure you'll love it!!
Enjoy and takecare bby kel😘😍
Hope you won't forget the school vlogs in Cebu as well as in other Visayan islands (regions) . I really look forward to your school vlogs.
