- A comic story I made based on a song.
Originally I just wanted to use the lyrics, but since I had some trouble getting all the words right and just put the pictures along with the song.
(Obvisously I only drew the verses with actual lyrics in them, and so I was a few pictures short and had to use a couple of them two times.)
Anyway, hope you like it.
(The song is Johnny's Adventure by Halfnelson.)
This sounds like The Kinks mixed with Frank Zappa and the Bonzo Dog Doodah Band. Fantastic! And the cartoon rocks. :-D
This is brilliant. Great imagery. Well done, Julie!
Ron and Russ are also in it!!! Wonderful video, hunny!
That's just absolutely superb.
'Tis a beautiful song - and your drawings are AMAZING! Is this something you do for a living? If it isn't, you should consider it!
Great work !! I wan´t more !!!
very powerful, nice work.
Nice!!
the lyrics !
Johnny's Adventure
(Ron & Russel Mael)
Financial evidence claims he was broke two day ago
So he sold his big heart for two fifty and soul for forty more
With his earnings in the bag straddled over his arm
He made his way on into the town to see what he could find
Workers wanted, must be strong
Heart and soul need not belong
Johnny went there to see just what this job would be
Before the day was through, he was all settled at his job
He was scubbin’ the floor and cookin’ the food for creatures he could not believe
Stranger girls with frily curls have swept out on the limbs
They’re all filled with venom of hate
They scarcely look like love at all
"What is this ?" he asked himself
"Where does he turn ?" he quizzed himself
He submitted notice intend to quit the job
Two weeks and four days later, he had to quit he had no sense
I’ll take my heart back, my soul as well and you can keep the dough
These strangers women prove to be the wrong type of work for me
I shall sit with my heart and sit with my soul and be content to starve
Feel tey, hey, hey, hey
Feel tey, hey, hey, hey
Feel tey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Feel tey, hey, hey, hey
Feel tey, tey, hey, hey, hey
Feel tey, tey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
1:00 oh. my. god.
That was so good. You're very talented. Is this one of the Halfnelson demos? Never heard it before.
I love it! What album is this from? I'm sending this to all my friends.
Wonderful! In the same "gengre" as 'Gone with the wind' (written by Russell), 'Kidnap' (an outtake, hilarious! 😆🤣🤣) and later 'Tits', a charming little anecdote😁💖💖💖💖💖
