    Nutn, I carried the desert dagger on a deployment to Iraq in 2005 loved it used it all the time. I too had to re-edge the blade. Lost in in 2007 on a convoy. Sad day.

    In my state, I could carry 10 guns at once if I wanted to under my carry permit, but that knife would get me arrested if I concealed it- because it has 2 edges. How dumb is that?

    I cannot beleive they're asking this much for 440C steel?! They have to be smoking crack. I do however like the design, but think their pricing is way out of wack.

      Also, blade steel plays very little in the price of a knife. The difference between the lowest and highest quality steels (especially in the quantities they're buying steel in) is only

      If that's the case, that's even more of a reason that they could have made it with a higher end steel. I'd at least consider that price if it were made of CPM S35VN or a similar steel.

    Hey Nutn. Would love to see a review on an H&R Handi Rifle! Maybe not that rifle specifically, but a single shot rifle review would be cool. It isn't tactical but at the same time the POU for a bug out system might very well benefit from lighter weight and shorter OAL rifles like a break open Handi Rifle. Keep up the great work my friend!

    What about the Cold Steel drop forged boot knife? It's a 5 inch dagger, so pretty close, and it's a lot cheaper and lighter. Plus it comes razor sharp. I bought one for everyday carry; tired of breaking expensive pocket knives.

    300 bucks for a 440c little dagger?! That's crazy! I could make a fully functional super tough and more versitile double edge blade out of a prybar and a hand grinder in a few hours. Why do they charge so much for double edge?

    This may have not been deliberate but to have a weekly GRV, KRV, and WRV the way you did this week was awesome. Also, you didn’t mention the Glock dagger as a competitive option. Any particular reason? I believe you reviewed it a few years back. Cheers

    Can you take a look at the original versions of the FS dagger? Same applys to other SOE/OSS knifes, like lapel or thumb dagger/knives. There is at least one small internet shop in the uk where you can get them "custom" for mostly under 100 £ made.

    • @fpsknifer9906
      @fpsknifer9906 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mr D Wilkinson actually still produces the 3rd pattern FS fighting knife, from what I understand in the same facilities & with a great deal of the same equipment as they did during WW2. They're rather expensive, but it's cool that this amazing piece of history is still being made by the original company. I'm a bit surprised Nutn doesn't keep one around just for reference, as it's truly the gold standard for dagger design.

    • @mrd7067
      @mrd7067 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I`m aware of several producers of FS knives in the uk, germany(eickhorn), maybe poland (Gerlach wz98A) and even Czech Republic (mikov commandos). Most are third pattern, sometimes with different handles or sheath. They range from about 35€ (polish/glockish one), 60-70€ (cheapest from the uk) to several hundreds or even more. The problem is, that people say there are qualety issues with em and at least i can`t tell which ones are for show and which for use.

    • @upinarms79
      @upinarms79 ปีที่แล้ว

      440C is one stainless I'd pay a little more for, but still not worth what Boker wants for it. 440C is the closest you'll get to a good quality high carbon steel out of the stainless line, but it's still cheap to produce and shouldn't cost much more than 100, and then only if the rest of the knife is high quality.

    Glock 78 has a bit mor utility and a very robust blade. It is light for it's size, easy to sharpen and it will cut. Other than that I really like the EK MkV. If KaBar would make one about 75%-80% the size with a slightly stronger profile I would consider that a keeper.

    Looking forward to the release of your review of SMAEL watches! I'm holding off on picking them up until I see your review. I'm interested in what functions they have. I can see "Temp" and "Baro" printed on the dial, but I"m pretty sure they don't have those sensors. Not a deal breaker for me if it has some of the basic function like stop watch, count down timer and (as a bonus) alarm functions. Amazon does not provide any details Nutn' so your review will be a real service to those of us considering these extremely cool looking watches. I think SMAEL may be related to Navaforce, which based upon your review I own and have a few more on order from amazon. Thanks for all you do Nutn'.

    8 YRS USMC infantry here. I need a blade that dos a lot--slice, chop, wood prep, pry tool in a jam and fight. Kabar type blade is ideal--I grind off the top hilt. Carrying a knife for every purpose is b.s. when you hump everything (weight and over complication). I carried a multi tool and kabar or bayonet. Carried a Bowie during arctic ops in Norway. My fave camp knife--right now is TNP reviewed and recommended Boker Vox Rold with my own kydex sheath. BTW, I open boxes with this--saves edge on carry blades and takes up very little space on keychain: STRIX RHK-1 Mini OTF Pocket Knife - Replaceable blades - Ultra Compact - Only 10 grams! - Rugged Aluminum body - Micro Lightweight www.amazon.com/dp/B076ZQH638/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_b7pxAb4AVEH8H
    Pricy? Yes. Worth it? For everything it does and how it saves me time sharpening edc blades: YES!

    Cool vid, but not an ideal knife for stabbing. I would not spend the cash with other better options out there. The philosophy behind it is pretty cool though. Speaking of philosophy you should write a book nutnfancy.

      How many people have you stabbed?

    • @et9650
      @et9650 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Josh Myers well I don't live in combat fantasy land, so aside from my brothers a couple times fighting with sticks at the ranch none. Look at the original Sykes fairbairn knifes. Little bit larger guard to protect the hand from going into the blade when you hit a rib. But hey to each his own.

    • @fpsknifer9906
      @fpsknifer9906 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The reason the FS fighting knife is such a well executed design has a lot to do with Fairbairn's experience serving as a beat cop in Shanghai pre-WW2. He had to deal with the results of knife fights on a daily basis at that job, and designed the FS fighter (and the accompanied POU detailed in his book "Get Tough!") based on a case study comprising thousands of real world knife fights which took place during his years in Shanghai. Unlike the BS armchair theory that goes into the design of most martial blades, the FS is based on very real data & backed up by extensive battlefield service during the war.

    • @jmyersv1
      @jmyersv1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    $300 is nuts for a 440C knife. $150 would be more appealing.

    If I take you prisoner and find you with a serrated bladed combat knife instead of a KBar then we can wait and see the out combe😊😊

    Really cool knife, but not worth the $300 price tag. Not even close, not for 440C.
