    The clip of those guys cheering when the wheel goes off is fantastic! Seeing all of their hard work pay off

      Yeah they were loving seeing their wheels lit! There was a bunch of that, but I only showed a little bit due to smoke or somethings how the wheels turned out on camera.

    I visited Malta last year, and i was amazed about the complexity of these 'mechanical fireworks', as they call it. I was in Zurrieq, where in the afternoon you were literally able to walk through these wheels, something i cannot imagine to happen in for example the Netherlands. The Maltese fireworks tradition is amazing, and I recommend every firework enthusiast to visit the beautiful island. Did you also visit the insane displays they shoot?

      I was amazed that I could walk up to the wheels as well. That is something that would not be allowed in the USA. I was there during the International Fireworks Festival, so there were teams doing shows from all over the world, and of course, they were doing tons of Maltese shells throughout the week. I want to go back to see some of their feast celebrations. We did a factory tour also, and the fact that they produce fireworks all year round for their feasts is pretty wild.

    Malta has been on my bucket list for a while, they have a big festival each year by the harbor it’s epic!
    They also have some of the best looking beaches and cliff jumping spots in the world, another one of my favorite things to do.

      Thank you! I really do love fireworks and enjoying sharing it with everyone else.
      I was in Malta for the International Fireworks Festival that was the same week as the International Symposium on Fireworks and was able to see a ton of awesome stuff. They do feasts all throughout the year depending on the town and have tons of great fireworks at each of those also. It's a beautiful country that I cannot say enough great things about!

    • @JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics

      These things produce so much smoke it is inevitable. Luckily I was on the inside perimeter and could move with the wheels, but only about 10 turned out well enough to share. The main audience couldn't move as I did, so they got smoked out most of the time lol

      What do you mean the wheels are motorised ? They are all powered by fireworks gerbs .

    • @JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics
      @JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lukecutajar6765 Not on these wheels. That's the whole point. They have actual motors that turn the wheels. Some are gerb motorized, but Maltese wheels are known for the mechanical aspect

    What are the best canister shells for 2023?

    • @JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics
      @JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics  ปีที่แล้ว

      In my opinion, it is subjective to what you're looking for. I personally would recommend any of the ring shells that seem to have popped up in masses this year.

  • @dre1334
    @dre1334 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’ve always wondered. Why are humans so infatuated by fireworks. Goes back as far as the 9th century. Is it because we are attracted too fire as a survival instinct ? Or is it something else?? Awesome video.

    • @JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics
      @JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I think you're on the right track. I'm sure there are some evolutionary or biological reasons that we have become fascinated by fire, explosions, etc. It was also one of the earliest examples of sensor overloading. You can smell, hear, feel, and see fireworks. There isn't much else throughout history that hit all those senses. Music is the next closest thing, but doesn't have the same sight aspect and feel (unless we are talking about some killer bass lol).

    • @dre1334
      @dre1334 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics lol your totally right about music. That’s another million dollar question!! But very similar to the firework question. Hilarious that you brought that up considering I’m an amateur pryo and also play bass 😂😂💪
