While I generally prefer 2014 FHD, I do think this is an underrated gem. J.Cole's never been shy to speak on his flaws or express vulnerability, but this album takes it to another level. 'Change' and 'Neighbors' were personal highlights
Amazing record and great analysis, very happy that you got around to it :) If you haven't heard anything from him yet, you should check out James Blake, I think you would really like his last album "Friends That Break Your Heart". It's very melancholic and hautingly beautiful!
Although 2014FHD is my favorite Cole album, mostly because it accompanied me during some times of struggle, 4YEO is amazing in its own right. 4YEO gives me a vibe no other album has given me. Thiis Album and 2014 Foreest Hill Drive are my favorite Cole albums. I love 2014 because it's a great listen and album. However, I feel like in this album Cole elevated pass the music and just created art. Not my personal favourite Cole album in terms of musicality and production but in terms of content it's definitely by far the best Cole has released in my opinion. 4 Your Eyez Only made me cry the first time I heard that song, Neighbours and the context behind the song is so telling of the times we live in and overall just an important project. Awesome reaction Shelby! I reckon it would be cool to see you react to some Earl Sweatshirt albums, it would be interesting to see how you'd react to the his more poetic stripped back style of rapping

Great video, I really enjoyed your reaction to not just the words but what the instruments bought out emotion wise. The part about the last song being from his friends perspective seemed a bit off to me though, I’m pretty sure most of the album is from his friends perspective and the last song is meant to help you realise it.
