I love vox, I swear by vox - this was absolutely awful. A 2.5 min advertisement. Please don’t do this again. It’s disrespectful and insulting to your audience.
If the whole video is just an advert, Vox should clearly mark it as such. This is probably in breach of TH-cam’s regulations, as it could get TH-cam itself in trouble
This is pretty awful. I'm disappointed you would run ads as content. Especially one by a payday loan "scam" claiming there they good guys as opposed to viewers jobs and banks.
Both you and Vice are very close to getting dropped by a lot of us at this point. I get that it’s not the editorial staff’s decision to pivot to these money grifting videos this year, but it tells me you can’t be trusted anymore as a channel (even if your staff of creators as individuals could). It always ends like this: company becomes popular, company grows, company gets sold for profit, new owner expects same growth or more, pivots desperately when profit drops, company loses what made it great, company gets shut down. Every time.
@@zydian_People watching/subscribed to the channel(s). There’s a reason I said “a lot” of us and not “all” of us. If you don’t count yourself among the “a lot”, then it wasn’t about you. By all means, keep watching poorly masked payday loan ads.
I think he just wanted to show that people don't need payday loans because of the schedule you get paid. Like that's not the (only) reason. Because by the logic of the video everyone should get paid immediately after work and that will solve the problem
I don't know how it is with bills in the U.S., but I like getting paid every month in europe, cause then you can pay all your monthly bills and calculatw your budget left until your next pay. Unless bills and rent in the U.S. need to be paid every 2 weeks aswell, It's a bad system.
@@FIGHTTHECABLE Bills for different things come at different times of the month, rent at the beginning, car payments are in the middle of the month, life insurance at a different time and it goes on and on
i had no idea most americans were fortnightly. and this video suggests they want it to be weekly or more frequently? no wonder they're such happy consumers and saddled with debt. they never actually have to keep any back
@@greg4629I went from monthly pay to every two weeks (same job, company just changed the pay schedule) and it became harder to keep a handle on my money without very explicitly budgeting, it actually made it harder to manage my money and encourage healthy spending habits :/

This leaves me with the feeling that you forced some garbage down my throat that I didn't even want. YOU ARE NOT MICROSOFT, VOX!!! Plus the advertised service went straight to my list of banned websites on my router.
You failed to mention that the government didn't "start taking more out of people's checks" income tax didn't exist, it was a temporary wartime measure which was supposed to go away, but when you give the government money it doesn't give you a refund, it spends it on war and says "what money?"
I get paid monthly, and not once in almost a year and a half of having this job have I been unable to pay a bill because I'm waiting for payday. It's called planning ahead for what you can and having a cash reserve for what you can't. Works wonders.
When I used to work at Disney, I got paid weekly (the mnemonic was "EPCOT": "Every Paycheck Comes On Thursday"). Now that I work as a public employee, I only get paid once per month. 😢
This really makes me consider unsubscribing from vox. I like the videos but selling yourself to people who will dragg milions of people into debt is just such a low and shameless move
idk why everyone is complaining they did exactly as said in the title they explained it they just included a little 20 second part at the end to support a product its so priveledged that people complain to vox and act like this is anything bigger than the slightest inconvenience
The world seems built on this two week pay schedule, but for those of us on Disability, it's monthly. I pay all my bills immediately and then sit back and feel broke for 3 weeks. Credit lines don't consider this. I can't pay every 2 weeks so stop offeirng that as a plan.
It's an economic myth that large scale bartering economies existed. There was spot trading or bartering, but no economies built on bartering. Credit came first.
The problem is not the payment schedule, but the debt behavior in the US and Canada. BTW: getting payed every 2 weeks is abnormal on the western world, services are billed monthly, so monthly income is the norm (yes, time to market, in know ..)
I mean, here in Europe you get paid monthly, so coming from that twice a month is not too bad? Also Im not sure if booking a flight is something one should do with the last moeny youve got. Of course Im just speculating...
This is an advertisement disguised as educational content. This isn't just disgraceful, it is potentially illegal. While this depends on the country, here in Canada, the law requires a clear and prominent disclosure. Sticking some parentheses at the end of the title a while after uploading, without telling viewers at the start of the video, likely does not meet that standard. Vox - this video should be immediately removed from TH-cam, and you really should issue a public apology.
So, did I just watch this correctly and see that Vox is actively promoting a lender (Chime), that may or may not be predatory? Why does it seem like so many more Vox videos have a hidden agenda (buy this thing) instead of actually sharing something worthwhile to me. I'm unsubscribing today.
Meanwhile the rest of the world gets paid every month and has no issues with it. (also, like everyone else is saying, this is just an ad, if you want to stem the tide of your best talent going off and creating their own channels then don't do things like this)
@uhohhotdog money is given to the worker at a time the government decides on. Even if you might be struggling with the amount you're being given based on what the government decides you can access, minus the deductions they expect you to pay.
If companies started paying weekly, you people would complain that we're not paid daily. If they started paying daily, you would complain you're not paid hourly. Come on man, you can adjust the dates ALL of your bills are due. You can call the phone company and the power company and set your OWN due date (I do, and also the cable bill). All my bills, ALL OF THEM, are set to be due on the 21st, so the middle of the month paycheck goes to that. Stop complaining and handle your business.
