I was there on Saturday. That was one of my favorite parts of the show; using new technology to keep the old technology alive. One of the exhibitors built a board to emulate the floppy drive on an Apple IIc, with a bunch of software on it.
I agree! The retro consoles also are gettinv modern mods too! I love the retro community keeping these things alive! As time goes on, they risk being lost to time.
I’ve only met one person I know from TH-cam and that was the Macintosh Librarian! I was wondering if I would meet Clint from LGR or the 8-bit Guy but I think they’re at the southwest VC event.
You're welcome! Back in the day, we didn't go gaga over GPUs. We did that with sound cards and synthesizers. 😅. Even in modern times when I was building my retro PC, I had a hard time finding the "best" sound card because everything had a flaw of some sort (hanging note, ADPCM support, not genuine OPL2/3 etc). I owned an old DX2-66 Packard Bell so your example brought me back in time. ♥️
It's amazing all the recent add-ons people have made to keep these things going.

It's amusing pulling up a video on retro computers and seeing someone you know behind a table. 🙂

Thanks for the detailed look at my exhibit (OPL Archive)! I see you noticed my Packard Bell has some unusual mods :)

If you got an old PC you should go for PicoGUS for having decent MIDI sound. (Yamaha XG, Roland GS)
I'll be looking into it when I get a chance to set up and play with my retro computers again.
I bought a PicoGUS at the festival, sound is great!
Can barely hear you due to the music.
That's okay. I'm not saying anything too important. Just narrating for myself. 😅
