- Melbournians are huge coffee drinkers and we take our coffee really seriously. We don't trust Starbucks, we only drink coffee from local trusted coffee spots. We are super proud of the way we produce a good quality of cups of coffee here. When you visit Melbourne, you have to try the coffee here. Our recommendation is to try the flat white.
We researched, tried, and visited 10 top coffee places in Melbourne. This list is based on our experiences having coffee in this second most liveable city in the world, friends recommendations, and local trustworthy media.
We also celebrate International Coffee Day on 29th September or 1st October depending on the country where you right now decide when to celebrate. So we thought this is the best timing to publish a coffee video too :)

Coffee is only as good as its barista - i was a barista for 6 years - i can instantly tell you easily which coffee is bad.
1. How long do they leave the shots before mixing to make sure the crema sits on top.
2. How clean the jug is - novice barista usually mix old cooked milk with fresh milk.
3. How they brew the milk (burnt or just right) - i hate aussies who wants hot coffee so as a barista you need to burn the milk to boiling - you need to appreciate that coffee can be drink of the bat.
4. How to pour the milk.
For me sensory lab is my fav.

Hehe we tried! Also when we visited the coffee shop we also tried to get as much information as possible, including all the flavour hints and notes in the coffee beans, which we find really hard if we were to find out ourselves by tasting it 😆

Industry Beans looks especially fancy. Friendly staff is a plus... already like Patricia. I like to start my morning by talking to my barista. Pour overs are nice. I have a hard time trying those additional notes in the coffee. No sugar for me either. That hot chocolate looks delightful. Is that cotton candy?! Looks dense and delicious.
Yes the hot choc is served with cotton candy to give the sweetness, otherwise it was just a bitter hot choc. Brilliant 👌🏻

Lol Peter slept like a baby! We filmed it in different days, with maximum cups of coffee he had are 4 cups, and surprised that he still can sleep that night.

I would have covered Padre at South Melbourne market rather than St. Ali.
Dukes has great beans but agree with you, they lack of consistency. Last time I had it, coffes was burnt.
Patricia and Baba Budan are my top 2. Great beans and barista.

This place where they made flat white in the glass it’s definitely our favourite. That’s how every coffee shop should made flat white. Looks like they made this correct if you can taste the flavours without them putting any syrup. Perfection
Ahh I see. In Melbourne we always have flat white served in a mug. The glass is more for latte here. That’s why we are confused why the last coffee shop serves the flat white in a mug ☺️

I know right! Their reason is because they don’t want to distract the staff in serving their customers so they can give the best customer service. Interesting that their coffee was not up to standard on that day though!
