  • How comfortable is the Singapore Airlines Premium Economy on the long-haul Airbus A350-900? I tested it and got an extra big space to stretch out my legs.

After 20 years of flying economy, last year i was upgraded to PE with SQ from Shanghai to Singapore. What a mistake - now i cannot think of flying economy again lol :-)
From memory i think the flight is approx 5.5hrs but we sat on the tarmac in SH for at least an hour before we took off but when I arrived in Singapore and walked off the plane - I felt good! My body felt good and my mind felt good - i felt fresh.
In 20 years of flying economy I have seen it slowly go down hill - smaller seats and less space to no foot rests - entertainment is much better which is the only positive. PE made such an impression on me that I would rather travel less and fly PE than travel more often and fly in economy.

What lounges are included with premium economy? What boarding benefits? What luggage benefits? How much wider and more legroom than economy? How much extra reclining room?

I traveled on Premium Economy on September 8 from Singapore to Vancouver, but SQ no longer gives out hot towels and mixed nuts. Only a drink before taking off. Also, you have to ask for the basic amenity kit from the stewardess if you need one (especially eye shade, socks, and a toothbrush with toothpaste). I don't know if they are cost-cutting or what?😞😞😞
Also, the fare difference between Premium Economy and Business Class (especially one month before the actual date of travel) is not that big. So, IMHO if you are willing to spend a bit more - better choose the Business Class. The service and comfort that you get especially when flying over 10 hours is like comparing heaven and earth.

It's not appropriate to talk and explain the menu during the safety demonstration. Watching that demonstration can save your life and talking can bother other passengers trying to listen. Better to set an example for those who are not used to flying as much as you do.

9:44 Great review Stefan. What a warm welcome and farewell from this crew. LATAM could learn from them. You're much braver than me! I would never go to the lavatory wearing just socks. :-) I think the SIA premium experience would be better if the lavatories were directly behind the PE cabin, like some other airlines.

I am thinking of booking LAX-SIN next year and found this video while researching. I have to agree with your comment, I CRINGED when I saw him wearing socks into the bathroom, that is just gross as I've seen things on bathroom floors that I would never want to touch my skin. Socks are not a good barrier.

Excellent review. I booked premium economy on AA to Hawaii. Dallas to Honolulu. 9 hour flight. We booked the front row as my wife is 4 ft 10, and worried she won’t reach the footrests on the other rows. The first row has footrest and legrest. Any thought on that ?
We flew the original 19 hour Singapore Airlines nonstop flight in 2005. Used 240,000 miles for the trip for two. Ticket price was $9000 each.
We booked business class. It was a two class aircraft, so business was essentially first class. First meal out of New New Jersey was lobster. Unfortunately, that was at midnight. The stewardess cleaned the restroom after every use.
Although 19 hours seems like a long flight, with business class on Singapore AirLines, we never wanted the flight to end.

Singapore Airlines Flight Attendants are nice but that is where everything ends. I have had the worse situations happen on Singapore Airlines and never got compensated. Singapore Airlines has the worse customer relations and as matter of fact, they are horrible. I had a First Class ticket to Hong Kong via Singapore going on a cruise back in 2011, my flight was cancelled and due the the incompetent actions of the rude management at LAX, I missed my cruise. They could have easily rebooked me on the direct flight via SFO, but they were just stupid. They wanted me to do all the work, and when I eventually rebooked myself 2 days later, my seat was broken, entertainment system was broken and I wrote to SQ and nothing came out of it. Apparently the Purser gave the other passenger a duty free voucher but I got nothing. I was told on the continuation flight from NRT-SIN that there was no amenity kit because I got one on a previous flight, that does not make sense, because they were two separate segments. Then, on a different flight out of Istanbul, my aircraft was substituted from a lie flat in Business to the old purple color cradle seat, two days later, the Flight was cancelled but SQ wanted me to leave Istanbul a day earlier? Hello? Are they just dumb or stupid? If I am in Istanbul for an event, why would I want to leave 2 days earlier because SQ cancelled the flight on the day of my departure. Then, after so many back and forth emails, they agreed to give me a $100 dollar duty free voucher and a one class upgrade, so I bought expensive one way Economy tickets for my 50th birthday to Phuket via SIN and nothing. The agents at LAX, had no idea that I was suppose to get upgraded and the Purser was an old asshole Chinese man and he was rude. We got nothing, no upgrade and no nothing and no duty free 100 dollar discount. Then, when we were in NRT we were told that our luggage was not boarded at LAX, guess what, our luggage went missing. We filed a claim in Phuket, I wrote a complaint letter and never got compensated. Then, on their shitty Silk Air flight we had the nastiest Flight Attendants. I wanted playing cards, and my partner wanted one as well, we were told one request per couple? WTF? Then, I asked for a can of soda, I was told that I had to open the can and drink it there. She said, I could not take a can of soda with me (even non alcoholic), I thought I was dealing with Gestapo agents of Germany, not Flight Attendants of Silk Air. Then, on Tiger Airways, we were supposed to get our luggage fee waived because our big bags had not arrived from USA, that was another dramatic back and forth crap with SQ people. On recent trips with UA, we got only half of our miles deposited to Kris Flyer, and instead of %100 on a specific fare paid, we got %25 percent of miles for half the segments. After so many back and forth emails with Kris Flyer we still have not been credited the correct miles. As far as I am concerned Singapore airlines sucks ass! If anyone from SQ reads this, email me, but I assume nobody at SQ gives a shit unless I take them to court. AlanLouganis@yahoo.com

PE on the SIA A380 - seats were hard and not worth the cost. Took my chances in economy and bagged a row of 3 empty seats from London to Singapore and a row of 3 to Sydney.

Two Bins Same thing for me from Frankfurt to Singapore AND back Singapore to Frankfurt , 3 whole empty seats in Economy. I got to sleep the whole flight. Unfortunatly i was super sick the way back so i am very greatful.

You were lucky. That never happen on LAX - SIN flight. It's always full flight and it's worth to fly PE. Once I wanted to kill myself cramped on the economy seat.

Zhi Bin Liu Well, to be fair i never had that situation in my life that literally BOTH flights were free 3 seats. I probably would have died if it would‘nt have been that way. Atleast for the way back. I was really so weak.

I would hate to pay for premium if the regular economy was mostly empty like this plane. In addition, the arm rests go up in regular economy so one can stretch out and sleep!

Nice video. Just 1 point am I being dumb but I can’t see in the description the flight details. Only that it’s premium economy. From where to where (I know the actual video explains more but I think the basics should be on the description).

I don't want to be rude, and I like your videos but It's actually not a fair comparison to be honest. If your in premium you need to do one row back to show real legroom and the space if someone reclines.

Is their in seat power to charge ipad/iphone in premium economy?

@@pmgvs9788 The only premium economy flight I'd ever do is Eva Air. PE on most flights is little different to economy class.

The leg rest seemed odd. His calf was not rested on the leg rest.

SQ premium economy seats are crazy hard...

    • @Saetanify
      @Saetanify 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

mfxx888 agreed. SQ's PE is actually much weaker than other airlines.
They should have positioned it as a business lite offering rather than economy plus.
      So much wasted potential

I’ve flown SQ PE and found there PE to be a great product.
I would say for a night time flight fly business if you can and enjoy the flat bed. But for day time flight PE Is more than enough.

Thanks for this! Just booked my flight in November from San Francisco via Singapore to Kathmandu, Nepal in Premium Economy on Singapore Airlines to celebrate my 47th birthday by going trekking! WOO HOO! Looks like Singapore’s Premium Economy product was worth the expense to upgrade. Although right now, I am SERIOUSLY 🙏🙏🙏🙏 that it EVEN HAPPENS.....
