Nice to finally see Welshpool Road and Tonkin Highway upgraded! Because I always thought the traffic in weekday afternoons at the intersection was horrific!
2 years later, still nothing. Can we hurry up with the upgrades to Tonkin Hwy from Hale Rd to at least Kelvin Rd, please? Its an absolute nightmare and the assortment of traffic lights need to go. The amount of traffic the highway is now taking, especially with more land releases in the outer eastern suburbs, is blowing out travel times. It doesn't help the the road is also deteriorating rapidly as well - you could almost surf the waves in the pavement at the Kelvin Rd intersection!
Looks like more traffic from Roe Hwy into Forrestfield now. Please ensure you extend the walls higher and longer for residents along the Hwy on forrestfield side
Ther is now consideration for volume of people leaving Forrestfield. going south. We will all have to go past the school on Dawson Rd, or Lewis Rd to, or down past Aldi on the new SINGLE lane to Welshpool Rd. looks stuffed to me. Time will tell we have no say anyway !!
So....all that traffic moving southward will just bottleneck at the first set of lights !! Surely the entire length needs upgrading the same as north from the airport....all the way to Mundijong Rd. then divert to Kwinana Fwy. Then, Roe Hwy and Kwinana Fwy would both flow infinitely better.
Wondering why are the left hand turns onto Welshpool Road from the highway exits governed by traffic lights instead of give way signs or slip lanes? This is inefficient.
Looks like traffic will be driving down the newly refurbished bit of Hale Rd to Welshpool to get to Tonkin from Forrestfield. Looks to be a bigger intersection there, so fewer accidents?
This must be a mistake, they are showing 3 lanes , should be built as 2 lanes so when finished is congested from the start and then build the 3rd lane as a congestion busting project. Maybe some bright spark realised it is cheaper to build 3lanes from the get go.
@@hittman1412 stop producing it. Every western city which has prioritized the private car is experiencing the same problems - induced demand. The easier we make car travel, the more people will opt to use it. You get a sugar hit of improved flow for the first year, and then it blocks up. The trick is to stop spending money on freeway infrastructure and instead spend that same money on alternatives to the car - mass transit systems like rail and bus lanes, bike and pedestrian access, and better city planning.

I can not wait for this to be built, gonna be so good
Looking forward to this being done. Gunna be great when there are no lights on Tonkin at all.
tonkin freeway 😳

Cool, been waiting for this for a long time

Great to see- the traffic lights at these intersections are quite awful. Hope more to come
this is probably what the animators had on hand. What you see here and what will be built can vary.
When this Hale rd & Welshpool intersection starting build up ? Anyone knows Timeframe please
Mid 2022 for Hale Road and Welshpool
Mid 2023 for Kelvin Road
and what about Kelvin Road in maddington.. .this really needs to be upgraded !
Why is there no easement for Rail?
Very unlikely to ever be needed, the Armadale line is only a few km away and buses can easily connect to it.
Why stop before Kelvin Road?
Great to see these intersections getting upgraded. Bit strange there’s no SB access to Tonkin from Hale.
so no right turn from hale to head north on Tonkin?
Actually it’s the other way around, no access from Hale Road to Tonkin Highway Southbound

Because both exiting from Tonkin Hwy Nth & Sth have double left turn lanes.
So we have this and nothing for the GAP project yet?!?
Go to the website and you’ll find enough information easily
@@thecricketlover8885 I have looked at everything on the website, yet there are no drawings or videos of this project yet they are building it.
Hale Road > southbound on Tonkin? And Tonkin northbound exit onto Hale Road???

No it’s because if you look at metropolitan projects at main roads, it says we’ll widen it to three lanes
When this Hale rd & Welshpool intersection starting build up ? Anyone knows Timeframe please
Mid 2022
What?? Settle down. That's almost like proactive thinking!
Do we really need 3 lanes in both directions?! These grade separations are monstrous. Main Roads is destroying Perth one lane widening at a time.
what's your solution to improving traffic?
