Are you sure there’s footage of Catherine Zeta Jones in Street Scene? I only know (and have 🤓) of the original cast album from the ENO that includes her in this role and not Caroline O’Connor. :)
I'm a bit stunned there are no comments here. This is great! Do you know who choreographed this? And Caroline O'Connor and Philip Gould are perfect. Better than I ever imagined this number could be done.
Mercer popularized it, but it is Weill. It doesn't seem to belong in the deeply serious "Street Scene" does it? I imagine many audience members were delighted by it, in the middle of all that somber drama.
Finally realized that Caroline O'Connor in this production is the same singer/actress in Mack and Mabel at the Royal Variety! She is superb!!!
Stupendous. My congratulations.
Caroline O'Connor certainly shows why she was soon to bust out as a star on The West End, both of them are really spectacular.
Later production with Catherine Zeta Jones is also on DVD. Excellent. would be great to revive.

GREAT!!!!!!!!
GREAT
Kurt Weill, that is
Kurt weill
Wasn't the song, "Moon Faced, Starry-Eyed" written by Johnny Mercer? It doesn't sound like Kurt Weil to me, although Weil did write "Street Scene."

Music by Weill, Lyric by Langston Hughes !
The original, non-musical play was written by Elmer Rice. The librettist for the opera was poet Langston Hughes, while Weil wrote the music.
It’s by Kurt Weill with lyrics by Langston Hughes, the Black poet.
Best music for the most boring story
And Catherine Zeta Jones song it! I think with Catherine is a little bit better...
Yes she was better def
