Yes, the sami community have defined the different types of music, for instance if a vocalist sings in English, even if he is Sami, then it's called western music, if he joiks then it's a joik and if he sings with sami words then it's sami inspired music. For instance, in the "spirit in the sky" song he is performing sami inspired music, he is not joiking, a joik is voice only, no background music and no instruments(he used drums on stage).
