reminds me of Dick Lane's stock car races in Torrance Calif I used to watch on TV in the late 1950's. He used to call out ohh,ohh,ohh.. thanks for the memories
I remember those days in the Midwest. Cars would go off the track and crash into chicken coops and whatever. As a spectator, you'd get sprayed in the face with sticky clay dirt. Fun! (I was just a kid, but Dad helped build, straighten and repaint many of the cars).
yes i believe the first stock car races were held , in london back in 1954 . although banger racing as we call it here in the uk , did 'nt really become popular until 1968.
Thanks for uploading this! it's a bit hard to find this kind of footage 'cause most of it did not survive, and as far as i know almost none if any of it was televised to any extent. Best era of American racing though- stock cars were actual *stock cars* on the track, and you had to contend to the classic rough rules of the day, all that shoving and such were perfectly legal. Do you know where one would be able to go for this kinda footage? Like some kind of website that has a collection of it or something? I've recently had a renewed interest in this kind of thing, but never looked on the web for it before.
Great video. This is **REAL** American racing! Vintage stock car racing is always exciting to see, but the choice of background music is so wrong! Why not use a really fast Country song? (Or better yet, a Rockabilly song.)
Fantastic stuff, these guys are giving their all, and the person filming it knew it and we get to see it after decades.
I love old films like this too!

Hello, do you have footage or photos of a racer from southern California named Lou Figaro?

GOFLuvr I have to agree. The music is wrong. I think I will dig up some banjo and re-dubbed the audio. Thanks!
Back when men were men and cars were cars!
