Great video and great yacht! Looks like big fun sailing it in heavy winds. But it seems like the main halyard has to be handled from the base of the mast on the rather exposed foredeck? Why is it not led back to the cockpit like on almost every other yacht these days?
Thank you for your comment. It was a fantastic day indeed! Your question regarding the halyard is interresting: I was skipper on a CNB Bordeaux 60 before, and it is true that it was quite practical to have all the lines led back to the cockpit. But I think this solution has its limits: the halyards and the reefing lines are much longer on a 76 footer, and it would be a mess in the cockpit. Moreover, being at mast step when you are reefing or hoisting the mainsail gives you a better control of the manoeuvre. I have sailed 6200 NM on the CNB 76, in all kind of weather conditions, and I think the choice CNB made works perfectly. Marc Renwick - Skipper of the CNB 76 #1 - Léo
