They are great. I've been trying to film a lone bronze whaler at collers in Mollymook for ages and all I've managed to get are a few glimpses. Nice to see these guys hanging around. They are a beautiful fish, maybe I make a dive trip to Sydney.

Good luck with the Bronze Whaler. This was the first time I had really seen the sharks at Shelly Beach. I had previously avoided the deeper water for that very reason, but now I'm hooked and will go seeking them out again. During summer they are seen very reliably by regular divers, and they are just 30m offshore. There are other sharks there as well such as Port Jackson Sharks and Wobbegongs which I am yet to see, but they don't evoke quite the same feelings as a "proper" shark!

I know the feeling. Before you see a shark for real you are as scared as shit, once you see one you realize they are just another big fish. Lots of things are dangerous, seals can bite, stingrays can jab, dolphins can ram.
I would love to catch up some time and go for a dive with you at Shelly Beach, I use to live in Manly just up near the Hospital and would go snorkeling around fairlight and little manly. If your ever down Ulladulla or Jervis Bay let me know.

thanks for watching. I left the camera down there on a tripod and swam away. The sharks were very wary of people but I could see an area they were regularly swimming past, left the gopro there and got lucky. Very happy when I got home and downloaded the footage, but until then, I had no idea if I had caught anything on camera!

Fascinating and yes, both beautiful and graceful. Lots of other interesting fish too. Love snorkelling myself put never had water proof cameras. Only ever came across a shark once. Was snorkelling on the edge of Ningaloo Reef just of the beach at Exmouth, WA when I disturbed a shark resting on a ledge on an unusual looking reef column what's called a 'stack'. Although it did swim away from me, I've never swam so fast back to the beach. Someone said it may have been a Reef Shark but I so wish I'd had a camera. This is great footage of these magnificent looking creatures. Thanks for sharing and look forward to seeing any more you come across.

Terrific footage. Thoroughly enjoyed it. 👍 Sharks are magnificent creatures but I'm not overly keen on snorkelling alongside them; even the small ones :-)

thanks. Hopefully I'll get some better footage next time I visit Sydney. Nothing to fear from these guys, admiration quickly takes over from fear when you actually see them.

Great footage Greg... you're braver than I am, even if you'd just plonked a GoPro down there and got out straight away :-) I think sharks need some good press at the moment, with another attack in NSW on the news today. Seriously, it must be a great experience being in the water with these smaller ones, and they seem to look and behave just like adults. I've got a Megalodon tooth at home; if those guys were still around, the whole concept of surfing would be purely theoretical :-)

They are always on my mind when the water is not so clear, but as soon as you see them any fear disappears - they are so graceful in the water. I would love to have some closer encounters with them; well at least with the smaller ones. I could see a few while I was snorkeling but they would never get too close. I could sort of see them swimming past my cameras from 5m above so hoped the video was catching them. Would have loved to have spent time down on the bottom with them. Some divers have remarked that if you stay still for a while they are quite inquisitive and will come in much closer for a look. My breathholding ability is very limited so I might have to try some scuba! Did you find your Megalodon tooth at Black Rock; I've heard a few turn up down there.

No I bought it I'm afraid, from Collectors Corner in Keysborough. I've seen pics of much bigger ones than mine but it's still enormous. I lived in England for a year or so as a kid and I've been to more than one beach where fossilised sharks teeth are easy to find in the sand. They were small, usually no more than 2 cm and came in different forms.
