This is Madonna most popular in TH-cam also because TH-cam is very popular in latin countries. In Spotify is Madonna #05 most streamed song. This song peaked #01 in UK (where is Madonna 13th Best Selling Single in the country) but only #04 in US (where Madonna have had 12 songs at #01, 6 songs at #02 and 4 songs at #03 - so it's not even among Madonna biggest TOP 20 songs in US). It was a huge hit in Europe peaking #01 in both Euro Hot 100 Sales and Euro Hot 100 Airplay (was also #01 in France, Germany and other countries too) and in most latin countries. Sadly during the 80's the song only peaked #08 in Spain (a country where Madonna have 22 number one songs) being outside the TOP 40 biggest Madonna hits in Spain. This song is having a big revival for the past 4 years (90% of the songs streams are pretty recent) as new big Latin wave of music has arrived after "Despacito" and this is Madonna biggest Latin-Pop hit. In 1987 Madonna have had another huge latin pop hit with "Who's That Gilr" (that was #01 in both US and UK and became 4th best selling single of 1987 Worldwide). Madonna latin songs continued with "Veras" in 1995 (a spanish version of "You'll See"), "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" (miami spanenglish mix) in 1997, "Lo Que Siente a Mujer" (spanish version of "What It Feels Like For A Girl" in 2001) and a few songs from her latest 2019 album "Madame X" (including "Medellin" with Maluma and "Faz Gostoso" with Anita). great song from her last great album (in my humble view), but it likely would never get past record label suits today, or if it did, it would be slammed for "cultural appropriation, i.e., "How dare an Italian play Latina dress-up!" (even though Spain, Italy, France, and other nationalities all share the same Romance roots, as they all are derivative of Latin). I think she caught flak for playing "Evita," even though Argentina has the third-largest Italian population in the world.
I'm a big 80's music lover (especially its Rock/Metal side), but I really can't stand Madonna who can't even carry a tune on stage (few people know it, but at the beginning, she didn't want to become a singer, she wanted to be a dancer). She's everything I hate and the vast majority of people who listen stuff like Blues, Country, Jazz, Rock & Metal feels the same way. Madonna had just some few (very few) decent/tolerable songs and "La Isla Bonita" is one of them. To be honest, Madonna was even one of the worst female singer of the 80's. During this decade, there were so many much better and more respectable female singers: Cyndi Lauper, Annie Lennox (Eurythmics lead singer), Pat Benatar, Belinda Carlisle, Maria McKee (ex-Lone Justice lead singer), Aimee Mann (ex-Till Tuesday), Robin Beck, Bonnie Tyler, Anita Baker, Sade Adu, Tracy Chapman, Alannah Myles, Melissa Etheridge, Lita Ford, Joan Jett, Lee Aaron, Sass Jordan, Stevie Nicks, Kate Bush, Carol Decker (T'Pau female singer), Doro Pesch (ex-Warlock lead singer from Germany)... These female singers were the real deal of the 80's.
Pretty much everything on that album "True Blue" is good. Unfortunately, it was the only good album by Madonna. It went all downhill from then on. Fun fact: That guy sitting on the hood of the car is the now famous actor Benicio del Toro.

I think many would disagree with you including me.
What about Bedtime Stories?
What did you smoke?
You kidding me right?? Like a prayer, ray of light and confessions on a dance floor were just as good or if not better albums then true blue
