here, u don't hear bellini, u don't hear donizetti, u don't hear verdi...her phrasing for each of the bel canto giants was just so different but so accurate. the fleetness of the coloratura is astounding. Incroyable.
No one has sung Rossini with better legato!!! biting into words and perfectly enunciating them even at the trickiest juctions. It's unbelievable how her voice could pirouette on those sequential notes. That alone classifies her as the greatest Rossinian EVER.
Of course you are right. Her enunciation, color, and dynamic range have yet to be equaled by anyone. You're going to find one lone naysayer on every board. It means nothing. What Callas accomplished in her operatic life is tantamount to the unreachable star. We all should be so blessed to accomplish 5% in our chosen professions of what Callas accomplished in her profession. Her place in opera history is as secure as Mount Rushmore.
