This film footage is something I lived! Yellowstone in the 60's. Talk about spooky. This song is all kinds of mysterious - the video adds yet another layer.
Absolutely! She's talked about her admiration for RT in recent interviews, and the solo on "No Thirds" definitely evokes his style. I hear Richard & Linda vibes in this song.
No Thirds Song by Mary Timony (2024) Check the situation. Is it cruel or is it kind? We wander in the desert, trying to find time The white flags above us, fly on our doubt Time to meet the mountain, there's no other way out Brand-new day, it still hurts like hell You said nothing, but there was nothing to tell Now the dead leaves are blowin,' around in my mind We only know this one life at a time We built this castle from sticks that we found An abandoned graveyard on sacred ground Then the cold moon was rising, but I didn't know There was a cross on your life-line, and you had somewhere to go So I'll travel on now, down the shifting road Nothing to stay for, so I'll stay no more Now I want to feel like I've never felt before The sun on my face, through an open door We're moving on now, never stayed too long Let the sunshine on everything that is wrong I still want to know what I've really never known We wandered through the garden, don't want to wander alone
Great song. I'm very interested in this "no thirds" idea. I need to sit down at the piano and take a look. (I like to do that. I don't care if you think me a nerd) Anyways when I hear no 3rds I think no defined major or minor key and all the space that would leave Dr. Timmony from a melodic stand point. It's seems so simple yet so brilliant. I'm loving it just like I've loved it all since the first time I heard the song 'im gonna get you, I mean it" thanks for it all Mary.😊
This is fantastic! But I feel really dumb that I noticed all of the harmonies without thirds in them really early in the song, but didn't put that together with the title until the very end.
Love this song. So beautiful

Ex-Fairport Convention drummer Dave Mattacks plays on this track.
Love EVERYTHING about this song, beautiful, layered guitar work.
But also really like what the drummer is doing, rhythmically, on the cymbal!
No Thirds
Song by Mary Timony (2024)
Check the situation. Is it cruel or is it kind?
We wander in the desert, trying to find time
The white flags above us, fly on our doubt
Time to meet the mountain,
there's no other way out
Brand-new day, it still hurts like hell
You said nothing, but there was nothing to tell
Now the dead leaves are blowin,' around in my mind
We only know this one life at a time
We built this castle from sticks that we found
An abandoned graveyard on sacred ground
Then the cold moon was rising, but I didn't know
There was a cross on your life-line,
and you had somewhere to go
So I'll travel on now, down the shifting road
Nothing to stay for, so I'll stay no more
Now I want to feel like I've never felt before
The sun on my face, through an open door
We're moving on now, never stayed too long
Let the sunshine on everything that is wrong
I still want to know what I've really never known
We wandered through the garden,
don't want to wander alone
Loving this new album ❤

Amazing bass playing as well as the drum cymbal work brings it all together. I want to take a long drive and blast this.
Come to the UK please.

She filmed this video when she was a baby?
Probably Grandpa's Super 8. Yellowstone Park for sure, most likely 60's or 70's.
