Really enjoy your videos, especially the roping shots. I like how you emphasize hand position (like you do with the twists here). Not sure why there aren’t more men my age in this field, but your work is art that I want to carry on for generations. Thanks for breaking everything down. It’s all very helpful in my ranch handin’ living. Hoping one day I will be as knowledgeable and as cowboy as you.
Great hanger, and going to Scotland, yey! I made my hanger but no latch or crown, hangs ok doesn't bother his eye..I may adapt having seen yours. Training the lusitano Camaron to it. Your environment is jaw dropping. Thanks again!
What size bosal and what length macate do you prefer? I think I’ve seen all of your videos and I think I’m finally getting good at some of the roping shots you’ve taught! Thanks a bunch, Nathan from Colorado
Pat usually starts with a 5/8 for a couple years. Then he goes to the 1/2 for another year. Then he goes to the 3/8 with the horse packing the spade. Our bosals are 10 1/2 inches inside diameter from the nose button to the heel knot. This means we don’t really need a 22 foot mecate which is the standard length. So if you’re going to order a custom mecate to go with your 10 1/2 inch bosal and you aren’t riding a draft horse, you would need a 20-21 foot mecate depending on the average size of your horses...little short coupled quarter horses = 20 footer...stretchy thoroughbred colts = 21 footer. The idea is to not have a bunch of extra mecate to try to figure out what to do with.
Even tho i have been told i will never ride again...I wld love to get my bosal tied correctly. Ill go buy some leather. But I cant see video well. Need to see start point in all the knots. Please?? Miracles happen. Learning this makes new brain pathways too... another reason to be vaquera.

We will make a video for you. We’re running with our choke out this week but if you’ll hang in there, we will make one. Stay tuned!
The only part I need to see your hand is in the way. 😔
