Hi Rachel - so question: Why would I need to cut the letters out of the middle piece, and then just cut ONLY the letters in the bottom piece? (then glue them together) Is it because they need to be thicker so they stick up and the kids can grab them to remove them? Back in the day - 50+ years ago... ugh, that just sounds ugly... we used to have wooden puzzles like this, but there was a small wooden nub in the middle that we would grab onto to remove and replace. Could a hole be cut in the center of each letter, knock that wood out, then glue it back in from the top - but not flush - but so that it sticks up about 1/2 way- so they could grab that nub?? Thanks!

Hi! Yes! It's just a style and preference. I prefer the look of the full letter but you could absolutely do what you mention or even glue a little bead or something to rhe letters to grab. Up to you! I just like this type:)
