Gtreat neighbor! Make sure that YOU do the maintenance on it for him. They do not need much. When done for the season warm it up and change the oil, we use 15-40 Rotella. Then drain the regular fuel and add just a cup or so of 2cycle fuel mix and run dry. This keeps the tank and carb from storage damage. Sycamore is tough and avoid elm unless you have a higher tonage rating. When you hear the pump loading up due to a crotch or knot, make sure your body is clear from the sides of the splitting area, the wood can pop and eject at hight speed,

Tough wood but you did the job
I still prefer splitting using the maul. I enjoy that type of exercise.
I enjoy it better too, but I couldn’t get this type of wood to split.
