  • Exposure in simple terms means the amount of light collected by your camera. In photography, exposure can have a significant impact on the image captured.
    When the camera sensor is overexposed to light, the highlights of the image are all “washed out and we get no information about those bright areas. As a result, we get faded images also called as “blown-out highlights.”
    On the other hand, when the camera sensor is exposed to less amount of light, we refer to such images as underexposure. When images are underexposed, we get no information about the darkest area or the shadows of the image. Such images are called “crushed shadows.”
    It is therefore said that the right exposure is a balancing act. When you capture a perfectly exposed photo, you capture all the highlights and shadows of the picture flawlessly.
