4. Man: a Social or a Political Animal | Hannah Arendt's The Human Condition

The second chapter of "The Human Condition" proceeds to a discussion of the public sphere. In this section, Arendt considers Aristotle's definitions of the human being as "zoon politikon" and "zoon logon", using these to discriminate between the public and private realms. Importantly, Arendt wants to emphasize a distinction between the "political" and the "social".
