To explain the 9 in hand for checkered deck. Since you have a 50% chance of either suit and you always get one of them, it's quite likely to have a flush by the 6th card drawn, however it's possible the first 8 cards could be 4 of Suit 1 and Suit 2, so no flush and you'd have to discard. When you hit that 9th card, it can either be Suit 1 or Suit 2 again, however at worst you'd have 4 of each suit and no flush available, so your chance of a flush is at 100% at that point. You either already had it by or before the 8th draw, or on the 8th draw you had 4 of each and that last one does it. I liked your explanation better.
26:00 if you're able to properly deck fix your deck through tarot cards, trading card, dna, immolate, etc, so that you have multiple copies of a card, and then have some retrigger jokers (sock and buskin, hack, hanging chad) and/or have red seals, the idol can get you some crazy scores, able to get you to high antes easily
