Westbury Station and Areas On 9th December 1988
Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of the Westbury Area taken on 09/12/1988. What was a beautiful winter's day this clip starts off on the steep climb up to Warminster at Upton Scudamore then onto the station halt at Dilton Marsh. We then visit the station at Westbury and finally in the glorious dusk at Standerwick nearer to Frome. On this occasion it seems that a track fault or maybe a bridge strike had occurred and the trains "Up and Down" were subjected to an emergency speed restriction. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated,but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and other types of traction. All that variety in the first 5mins, and in such a glorious setting!! 23:15 is the icing on the cake here Brilliant! 28:35 perhaps one of the more successful things Leyland did.....? Thanks for posting 🙂

Really love watching these late 80s videos. Thanks for posting your collection did you ever manage to capture the APT on the WCML before it was scrapped.

I went out to film the 89 but it failed before it hot to me and as for the APT...long before I had a Video Camera and they were not really easily available to the public unless you could afford thousands of pounds.....much of a pity....what could have been captured only 10 years earlier....8mm was too expensive for me then too....
