The little time that mom & dad had to raise this young man, what an amazing job they did. You can tell they were loving parents to their children. What a heroic brother to understand enough to hide himself and his baby sister. Most adults would run and save themselves, but this boy didn't. He saved his baby sister.
It’s beyond heartbreaking he has to endure this but it’s hopeful knowing that the love his parents gave added a strong wonderful person to the world. Knowing he maybe even start a family pouring those same values into them gives me a little more hope for the world. This younger generation is so wonderful and thoughtful. It’s beautiful in such a crappy world.

Yeah it’s good when operator can change how they talk when it’s a child. I know they are meant to just collect facts and stay emotionless but its very helpful in some cases to be reassuring
So many operators refuse to answer the caller, and so the caller is forced to repeat the same thing over and over. This operator understood how to have a proper conversation, which is even more important when talking to a child.
Objective morality only really exists in small sacred communities. 100s of Thousands of years ago when these communities would join other communities for festivals and other events they would require a police force because many of these sacred communities did not get along(this was also before money or gold existed so you cannot blame greed) you could see these police forces which much of the time fought with other police forces as the state, a group of imagined communities with imagined bonds and relationships. I can imagine many did not want to take their children into a state in prehistoric times but now we have no choice.

Yes! They did a great job as parents! His father teaching him the importance of what being the man of the house does, protects and provides for the family. And the mom, giving her life for her children. It fills my heart that they instilled those values in him at a young age where when it came time to act, he did it! I'm pretty sure they were hoping that day never came where he would have to run for his life never mind taking and protecting his sister with him. I'm ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE they are looking down on him with great pride! Editing because it was brought to my attention that I said a few things that the dad instilled and only made that one comment about the mom as if it wasn’t as important. Please know that’s not how I meant it. Thank you! 🫶

the verse is in context with those trying Jesus before a "jury" that was determined to punish Jesus(under a cloak of darkness/evening), only those who were called upon to conduct this trial in the cloak of darkness were those who could be counted upon to find Jesus guilty unanimously, WHICH is incredibly offensive to use that passage because it was spoken to all(especially to those who tried Jesus and found HIM guilty) knowing Jesus was unanimously innocent, the only way a trial could find Jesus guilty was to conduct itself as was done,

Andrew is a hero. Just 9 years old & with all of the terror happening, he still has the quick witted mindset to remain as calm as possible & saves his beloved sisters life. Then he recalls the events so eloquently & precisely whilst being interviewed by police. I am so glad that both he & his sister are living normal lives now, although the memories remain. But as he says, his parents are his heroes, just like Andrew himself.
18:29 another thing is to take away the alibi from that guy is that the kid did not immediately call as the shooting was happening. He waited a little bit to make sure it was OK then called the police meaning that he had a little bit of time to leave and go straight to the pharmacy

My brother absolutely hated me from the moment I was born. I was in the emergency room almost weekly when I was a child, because of him. He would throw rocks from a distance and hit me in the head. He would also put me in a wagon and send me flying down a steep hill with a rocky river below. He tried to shoot me twice, once when I was very young and once as a teen. Yes the mom might have sacrificed hers, and that's wonderful that she did that, but that little girl would not be alive if it wasn't for that little boy taking action. Those were male instincts. Stop trying to take credit and make it where feminists did everything and Men did nothing. It's all about gender with you idiots and I'm sick of it.
Andrew’s parents raised a good kid. He knew his forever job is to make sure his sister is safe. I hope they are looking down on him and know what a good man he has grown to be.
@ that isn’t true though. I can be proud of soldiers that fight in wars I didn’t participate in so I can be proud of a kid as well. What do you get out of being contradictory just to be contradictory?
Good guy Andrew. Also Hockensmith is a great name for a Pawn Shop owner. RIP Andrew's Mam and Dad and well done for raising a great kid, sadly for less time than you wanted to. 😢
She is doing great. Thriving happy young girl. She still lives with her grandparents surrounded by her aunt, uncle, and cousins. And of course her big brother still watches out for her.
Andrew is clearly the product of two wonderful, amazing parents. His bravery was called upon in a situation too horrible and heinous to speak aloud. He embodies the kindness and good hearts of his parents.
What an amazing young man to live his life with such positivity, harbouring no anger, just looking to the future, appreciating the good from the past..... well done young man, so sorry you lost such awesome parents, they were and would be very proud of your strength.
How was the investigation made difficult due to the store selling guns and ammo? The guns on the rack and the ammo in the boxes are merchandise. The warm spent casings on the floor are evidence. Am I missing something here?
No matter how careful you are, a pawn shop by its very nature has an enormous amount of completely different things which arrive in small amounts. It's not at all unthinkable that a bullet from one of those transactions fell on the shop floor and wasn't found again until the investigation. And the perpetrator could have tried to hide whatever he'd been using between the merchandise. Which means every single weapon or bullet in that store had to be examined.

I'm ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE they are looking down on him with great pride!

That thing putting John 7:51 on his arm in court is absolutely disgusting. He basically tried to say he's innocent and no one would listen to his side. He deserves worse than life in prison.

I am from Harrodsburg, Kentucky. This was a tragic story that rocked the Danville community. I was in high school at the time and remember hearing about this on the news. Andrew is a hero, and I hope he and Naomi are both thriving.
I cried… I lost my mom when I was 18 to something way less traumatic. I’m 28 now, and I’m still fucked up. I feel for this kid, there aren’t words good enough to describe the respect I feel towards this young man. I hope he lives the longest, and happiest of lives, if anyone deserves it, it’s this man.
I’m really sorry to hear that. I can’t imagine how that must be. I’m a Christian and when I feel like that I take it to Jesus and pray. It might not always go away immediately but I have hope for salvation from it. I’ll keep you in my prayers. God bless. :)
Trauma can't be compared. it is subjective and relates to the way the human mind tries to preserve itself. Complex PTSD sucks but at one point it was probably what kept us safe from predators.
Hope you can find peace in this lifetime brother.
I can't. This is so horribly darkly beautiful. Most people never take the time to realize that being a hero really means facing immense trauma. Andrew is a hero and I feel horrible for him because no child should have to be that strong 😢
Watching Dan walking through Lawson's Jewelers without a care in the world, and seemingly enjoying the mundane daily grind of life, is just surreal to me. It just goes to show that we truly don't know when our time will come and how it will all end.

Aww thank you
The love that family had for each other was undeniable. Both parents made the ultimate sacrifice to make sure their children survived and Andrew did everything he could to make sure his sister survived. ❤
Makes you just want to be in the presence of someone so strong, kind and heroic. That nature of his will ALWAYS be, so imagine the incredible father he will be. Andrew, there are just no words to describe your humility and kindness and heroism - even as a young child. I wish you all the best.
“I just didn’t want her to be killed”. That spiraled me, but not for the reason y’all might think. Sure it’s hard hearing a kid say that. But it reminded me of being in Orlando with my niece and nephew. Nephew was 4, niece was 2. There was a scary looking mascot, and he held his sisters hand as they passed and then later said “I just didn’t want her to be scared”. In much the same way. No kid should have to be as brave as this little boy was..
His action meant everything to her ❤

No one can tell me that 9 yr. old boy didn’t show more courage than some grown men…maybe several grown men PUT TOGETHER. What an absolutely Incredible display of courage, intelligence, love, integrity and bravery. He’s a true hero. Most of all, to his baby sister. His parents would be so proud. In just 8 short years, they did an incredible job. And his mother sacrificed herself so they could live. No doubt he got his integrity, love and courage directly from his parents example. He got it honest, that’s for sure. And he seems to be an awesome young man now❤ and to that pastor, you’ve done your God no favors in becoming a demon full of vengeance and greed. Because what you did wasn’t just criminal, shocking and horrible…it was downright evil.
The church I was forced to go to as a kid had a typical preacher, too. Affairs with three different married women, swindled donations for 100,000, and appropriating an old lady's land for 9 acres.

And here's a wonderful story before my grandpa gotten saved he was in the Vietnam War he woke up one day and he was supposed to go and do parachuting practice well when he walked out of the tent and a tree branch went into his eye causing him to replace a radio station host instead and when the parachuting practice began the enemy was firing them and the U.S soldiers were falling out of the sky like birds and my grandpa was forced to hear it all as it went down and my now 80 year old grandpa said that it was God that spared him of that awful tragedy cause he wouldn't have been here today if it wasn't for that tree branch but as to why he was spared on that day? My brother absolutely hated me from the moment I was born. I was in the emergency room almost weekly when I was a child, because of him. He would throw rocks from a distance and hit me in the head. He would also put me in a wagon and send me flying down a steep hill with a rocky river below. He tried to shoot me twice, once when I was very young and once as a teen. He even broke my nose when I was about 11. I always envied brothers that loved their sisters . I never understood why he hated me so. How was the investigation made difficult due to the store selling guns and ammo? The guns on the rack and the ammo in the boxes are merchandise. The warm spent casings on the floor are evidence. Am I missing something here?
I assume they'd have to check if any of the store weapons could have been used
No matter how careful you are, a pawn shop by its very nature has an enormous amount of completely different things which arrive in small amounts. It's not at all unthinkable that a bullet from one of those transactions fell on the shop floor and wasn't found again until the investigation. And the perpetrator could have tried to hide whatever he'd been using between the merchandise. Which means every single weapon or bullet in that store had to be examined.
